While driving the 968 yesterday on the highway, on a very light traffic day, an empty trash bag floating around two lanes with the aid of a slight breeze suddenly shifted right in front of me as I was maybe two car lengths from running it over. With eyes in the rear view and side view mirrors I realized I have plenty of space for an emergency maneuver, which is exactly what I did. Yanked the car at the last second into the adjacent lane, and then promptly retuned to mine, continuing on at a mild mannered 70 mph, or so..
A car which was approaching in the fast lane, eventually caught up to me in about 5 seconds ( but he was close enough behind me to witness the drastic evasive maneuver
) and the driver looked at me with a huge snarky smile on his face and shaking his head as if to say : what the heck are you afraid of ?! It’s an empty trash bag ! Yes, I read his mind :glare: . I should have asked him to pull over so I can educate him what you have to deal with when plastic bags are sucked under your car and invariably sear themselves onto your hot exhaust pipes, muffler, etc . Obviously he never experienced that misery ; long lasting stench and a herculean effort to scrape and clean that melted plastic off from under your car, especially when you don’t have a hoist . Had that happen to me four or five times, and not something I care to deal with again.
