I think that all the European countries should allow all the immigrants trying to leave a lousy country to be allowed into the new country. Think of the USA as a country made up of immigrates. The only people who were here in the first place were the native Indian tribes. All the rest of us were immigrants. If there was a quota then most of us would not be living here.

The big difference is that, apart from the Indian tribes, no one was living over there. The colonists had to build a country from scratch. I have my doubts that the folks that are coming here are ready for living in a western society. Will they adapt or will they be living next to us instead of "with" us and eventually resent our way of life once the rose coloured spectacles come off? I'm afraid it will be the latter...

Bulti once they find securing a home, job and all the other necessities of life aren't their's for the taking the resentment will grow. Then you will see next to instead of with. William although your remark regarding immigrants in this country is factually correct, do you think that it's applicable here. Suppose we diverted 100,000 Africans to your town and now your taxes went up to pay for them. Then let's add another 25000 next week. By the way, you don't get a voice in all of this you just have to pay for it. Did we vet them? No there is no time and no system set up to do that!

In my city Portland OR there is a lack of African or most other races. It took me a long time to adjust to this when I moved from NYC to here in 1996. When I see an African American today I am surprised for a moment.. Portland for all it pride of being so liberal is interesting as it was in the law up to 1960's that African Americans could not own the land their homes sat on.

My friend in England sent me this : According to the story ( I have no way of verifying whether or not it's accurate ) a cartoon contest was held in the Netherlands where the contestants were asked to submit their depiction of Europe's embrace of Syrian refugees and the new " multi cultural " ..aka Islam ..tolerance and sensibilities . This was the winning entry ( supposedly )

I think all of the hysteria about islamist terrorist infiltrating Europe as refugees id belied by the fact that the recent terror attacks in France and Belgium were committed by home grown terrorists.

The insanity continues ! Absolutely horrific. I suppose within a few days we'll find out if the driver was a foreign terrorist or a home grown terrorist. Sadly, the answer to that question will be of little use, because these mad acts are bound to continue whether they are fueled by an Islamic agenda or by anger at the world for a myriad of reasons some nutcase feels it justifies mayhem , and the targets and venues are limitless to anywhere and everywhere crowds large or small tend to gather . Stunned again, but at the same time almost expected and thinking not whether IF the next attack happens , but rather when and where ..
