Engine
#1

Will be taking out my engine in Aug / Sept. (about 248,000 mi) Replacing it with a 55,000mi engine.

As its a daily driver, and I want to keep it, this seems cheaper than rebuilding, and the newer engine comes with

MAF, intake manifold, wiring harness, ac compressor, power steering pump, alternator, distributor, etc., so many things freshen up.

My question is what does someone do with the old engine that is still running great and uses almost no oil to speak of?

Rebuild it or build up a 3.2 motor.

Sell it to the 944/968 racing crowd. It'll draw a premium over general retail market given the miles.

Part it out or keep it for your spares. Many parts on our cars are either very expensive or not available. I just spent almost $800US on the 2 cam belt covers; I wish I had a spare 968 to pull from!

Some good ideas. I unfortunately have no storage space.

Thanks

I agree you should be able to get a decent price for it if you sell it, as these engines are very rare.
