Engine bay trim
#1

I am need of the factory engine bay trim which surounds the air box.

I just bought the car and does not have one, looks unfinished. I want to do the air box mod, and that mod works better with this shroud in place.

If anyone runs across one, let me know.

Thanks!!!

Try Oklahoma Foreign - 800-462-2446 or 405-799-0645. That's where I got mine, and the price was pretty reasonable.

Good call, thanks for the lead. They have one in stock with the storage compartment, said it came out of a 94'.

I thought it was 92' model year with the compartment?

The '92 compartment had a white glove logo on it, if I'm not mistaken, which was "deleted" in later years. My '93 has the compartment and no white logo.

Qfrank - does your car already have the rear cover? If not, it cleans up the engine bay even more. OK Foreign might have one of those too, and you can get the little clips that hold it in place from Sunset.

I fabbed up some brackets to hold my front cover at the right height (level with the top of the airbox), since on '94 and '95s the brackets were deleted when Porsche dropped the engine bay covers (presumably as a cost-cutting measure).

Not sure what the rear cover looks like. From the base of the windshield across, there is a cover, it extends out about 6 inches or so. Not sure if that is it.

I will have to look at other members photos under the hood, to se what I am missing.

Thank

I have a rear cover that I'd be willing to part with...

The rear cover sits just in front of the firewall:

I do not have that rear cover, looks great. For aesthetic reasons they really do clean up the engine bay.

Your engine compartment is immaculate!!!

I am interested in getting both parts, but right now I am just sorting thru all the service records part by part; doing DME, K&N, air box mod, cleaning etc.

Thanks for the photo.

I am sure I will be on the site daily as one of the newbies.

Ha - my car is black, but my engine bay is miles away from being that clean! Aftermarket chip (I have a Racer-X) and airbox mod + K&N work great, you'll love the results.

There is so much great info - and so many great people - on this site, I seriously would not be into and enjoying my car half as much without it. Living just a few miles up the road from Flash doesn't hurt either!

I will do a chip eventually, just want to sort everything out first. I have a good start the car only has 80k.

Living so close to flash is huge. I need to start finding a Porsche guy near me, beside Porsche dealerships. I know there is a racing bunch in tampa, Dave White Racing, that is well known, just not sure about routine items. I will have to drive by 1 day and check them out.

Thanks again.

The supercharger doesn't allow for the front engine trim piece, correct?

Correct, so I should have a front piece available at some point as well... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Qfrank - definitely do some looking around for a place with 944/951/968 Porsche experience in your area. It's possible the dealer might have a mechanic who knows these cars, but more than likely they've never even seen a 968 before.

Look around the site here and you'll find what areas of our cars typically need attention. Mine pretty much needs everything. I'll be busy, and poor, for the next couple of years!

Wasn't the engine trim deleted from a point in the model cycle. Mine being a 94/95 model did not come with it. I agree it makes the whole engine bay look neater, so I bought one, but have never installed it. With the SC installed, like most - it will no longer fit. I will most likely probably keep mine just in case (you know that it might come in handy some day). Having all of this stuff also makes it easier to justify why I need a garage to store it all in when we are looking for a new house.

yes, they deleted it in mid 94 - part of the cost cutting

European CS versions never had it in the first place. All CSs since they were launched in'93 came without the engine bay plastic cover. If I'm not mistaken UK Sport version didn't have that plastic cover either.

Hi,

Does anybody know the part number for the knobs that lock the front piece of the engine trim? There are two of them and they can be seen on the picture above in this thread (on the sides of the front piece).

Thanks,

Peter
