Probably not . P968 come as coupes and ... not coupes (hard top). My car is not a coupe, so people sometimes call it sedan, but probably it is more a hatchbacks than sedan.

Peter, you might want to consider new when replacing speakers. They are still available. I believe the one you want is 944 645 425 00 and Sunset sells it for $92.43 plus shipping.

Peter, I think the right nomenclature for P-cars is the 968 came in Coupes and Cabriolets (convertibles also sometimes referred to as Cabs) A Sedan is typically a four-door vehicle.

Just to be clear, the coupe is the hard top, the cab(riolet) is the convertible.

Jeff, thanks for the part number.

Replacement of all speakers would be the final goal if I decide that the current system is viable. The audio system in my car (originally M490 and 494) was altered by the PO in a strange manner: it has an Alpine head, and aftermarket amplifier, bit still has the OEM amplifier under the driver's seat and some speakers are still wired through it. It looks like the job was not complete. Actually it sounds badly, the wiring is pretty bad and the RL speaker is not sounding. My first goal is to troubleshooting the wiring and I thought that an used rear speaker could help me doing that. Depending on the results I will decide to either keep the head and the aftermarket amplifier and replace the speakers with the OEM ones or to go with a completely new solution.

Does anybody has a picture of a rear speaker from a 10 speaker car? The part numbers in the catalog are confusing (with all those available options).

It apparently shows part # for a 10 speaker for the 92 model and a different part # for 93 and newer. BTW I was also looking for a rear woofer for my 92 model. I would probably pull the speaker out to get the correct part # before purchasing.

I will try to get you a photo. My 95 also has the 490/494 hi-fi audio system upgrade. The way i read PET, the part numbers for the rear speakers in the 490 system are the same no matter what the year.

I would like to know if they come from older stock or are recently manufactured.

NOS, new old stock. They are nice pieces, just like the 20 year olds but brand new. And I think the price is reasonable.

Peter - when I had my Alpine head unit installed (before I completely re-did everything myself with an external amp) the installer bypassed the amp under the passenger seat but left everything in place. It was so goopy with carpet glue under there I don't blame him. Someday I'll probably get around to taking all that stuff out but I'm in no rush.
