Turn signal indicators not working
#1

Just recently from out of no where my turn indicators have suddenly stopped functioning. I do not believe it has anything to do with the stalk from the steering wheel. It is functioning normally in the sense that I push the stalk down to turn left and it clicks off as soon as I make the turn. The problem is that I push the stalk up or down and the turn indicator lights up but does not blink. Other times it will slightly blink but at a slower rate. Is this an issue with the fuses? In any event, just looking for some advice before I start to rip things apart.

I would hazard a guess that the turn signal relay/timer has burnt out (almost) and simply needs replacement.

Yes, I would certainly check that relay but you may also want to check the hazard switch to make sure it's not stuck halfway on/off. IIRC, if it is malfunctioning, your turn signals will not work.

Thanks for the responses. I will definitely start with the relay and hazard switch. Hopefully it is something simple...

Hi guys,

The other day my turn indicator light on the instrument panel flashed once and then stopped as I pushed the stalk down. The actual turn signals do work but remain on (instead of flashing) but the indicator on the instrument panel only lights up briefly. The light will only come up for a split second before turning off (and remaining off). Again, the actual turn signals do work, but don't flash (they just stay on until the I reset the stalk).

I removed the relay (G4 I think) and as exepcted my turn inidicator light didn't turn on. I'm thinking that the Relay is on the way out? Does the relay control the indicator light on the instrument panel, as well as the blinking behaviour of the actual turn signals? I'm hoping replacing this will fix the problem.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

cheers,

milton
