Dyno Run
#1

This is a friends car, engine is all stock except for airbox mod, and has 94k miles.

And for some comparison, my 928 (with an almost cool license plate) on the dyno. It was running silly rich for this run, need to figure that out.

Interesting how the torque has a sharp peak at about 4250 rpm, then drops back to nearly the sub-3700 rpm levels pretty quickly. I assume the 4250 rpm peak is from the variocam, but I'm surprised it doesn't sustain those levels.

What kind of seats are in your friend's car?

Can't recall the name of the seats right now, but what I here from people who have sat in them they are comfortable. The car is setup for track duty, coilovers in the rear and what not.

that is probably the best example of the stock curve of the 968 i've seen yet - it's almost like they just took it right out of the book

4200 peak is the dual resonance intake coming "on boost"

Ah, I always thought 4200 rpm is where the variocam kicks in.

What a beast that 928 is. Really straining at the bit...

Pete dyno'd a stock car yesterday that put out very simalr numbers.
I'm sure they will chime in.
Those are very stout numbers.

I beleive the VC is active from idle to 1500rpm than deactivates.
Activates again around 5200rpm.

The 4200rpm "kick" is from the intake manifold. I'm pretty sure it creates a few PSI positive pressue.

Porschedude,

You are exactly right about the variocam operation. The kick at 4200 rpm must indeed be the dual resonance manifold.
