Dome light wont go out
#1

Just recently while I was driving the light above the rearview mirror flickered on and off. I figured it was a loose wire. Now the light is on all the time and I've had to turn it off at the 3 position switch on the light.

I have tried to look at the door switches but can't get them out of the hole in the body panel.

Other thoughts are possibly the ignition switch or the RC circuit relay that turns the light off after about 1 min after you shut the door. Could the relay be stuck closed? and where is that relay?

Any ideas/suggestions on how to trouble shoot this would be greatly appreciated.

The rear hatch light I have off all the time. I'm not sure where the switch is.

The glove box light has been removed and the wires taped up. I will look at the g box wire to make sure the tape hasn't come off.

A faulty rear hatch switch, regardess of whether you have it manually turn off at the light, will actuate the dome light.

The hatch switch is on the pass side support near the body mount. As the hatch is closed the switch rides up on the support body and opens the circuit.

Thanks guys. Problem solved. It was the rear hatch switch. The switch was full of dust and crud. I first pulled the clip and the light went out. So I cleaned the switch and now all is good.

Much thanks
