I remember when my car was first delivered to our home. It was backed off the truck and I drove it into my garage. Moments later I get my wife to come out and take a look at it. " I cant believe its here" I said. To which she replied. "me either" and went back inside.
When I first had the gearbox problem she was surprisingly supportive. I think it was do to me being a bit broken hearted. But when I had to take it back in for a 2nd time things got a bit heated. It was a lot of money and it was a quick return to the same shop for the same problem. My last invoice with Pete was pretty mild but we also have a lot going on so money isn't as free as it once was. As we talked about where money is going for the next few months a few smart remarks came out about the 68. So lately I've just been cleaning it and having fun running little errands around town. No exhaust for me as I feel the next item I get for that car is going to be a serious problem unless I wait till about mid 2010.
Just sharing my misery and looking for company.

It's all I can say. +1
Also why are you cleaning it? The other one is dirty!
But further, she supports it!

She owns a 968 with chip exhaust and short shift. She drives up with me on most of my trips to RSBarn and writes the check when she gets there.

My wife bought me the first Mod (RS Barn Stage 1 chip), helped me to co-host the 968 Celebration in Newtown in 2006 and last year for OUR anniversary suggested that we buy the wind screen. I often joke about how great it is to have a wife that buys presents for my mistress.

Its great that many of you're wives are into your cars. I think mine would be to if not for all the house work going on. Either way its good to pace these sort of things (mods that is). Then you appreciate them all the more so.

I feel you.
My wife puts up with my toys but if one breaks it's too bad so sad.
It will sit until everything else is fixed first then it can get attention/money. Just her way of making sure I get her stuff done I guess.

I sympathise with you. My wife doesn't actively support my habit.
However, she does understand that the 968, and Porsche in general, is my only real passion. Apart from her and the family, of course.
I was a Porschephile long before we met, so she knew what she was getting into.
She is okay with me going to the monthly Club meetings, and asks what the guest speaker talked about.
She's never stopped me buying an accessory or spare part. But she's never suggested an item.
But I'm okay with that.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->My fiance supports my hobby. In fact, she wants her own 968....a horizon blue cab would be her ideal car. When i mentioned selling the 68 (we are in the process of buying a home), she urged me to keep it...... Said if we must, take it off the road for a while; but don't sell it. Yup, she's a keeper. It's smart advice as well. Dropping the insurance and tags for a while on a car that's paid for can free up some needed cash that could be directed elsewhere.
