968 Celebration at Hershey 2010

back on topic

it was great meeting up with ray starbird - we had a lot to talk about, and he had some very promising things to say about how the future will be, and how he will be preventing the problems of the past

it was also very cool to hang out with ivan of IMA - very interesting guy, and he definitely has his hands in a lot of very cool projects - i for one will be eagerly awaiting developments - very cool stuff

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Congratulations Flash, looks like everything is up to your usual standards. I settled with my insurance company yesterday ($7,000 for "ol blue") and bought the car back for $300. Will try to sell parts locally first before offering any on the site (much easier than packing and shipping). Will probably replace my 968 with a 1989 944S2 with the V-8 conversion (locally available and in my budget). Good luck, I will be "lurking" in the future. Bob Blackwell.

Bob, is the damage beyond repair? If you look hard enough you could find a 968 for close to what you'll get for your settlement. Of course, at that price....it will need some work.

Bob, sorry to hear about ol blue. Settling was best, I was in a similar situation with a 951. They low balled me, and I fought it. Ended up settling for 14, but after the lawyers, and courts are paid, and waiting years, you would probably end up with the same original offer, or close to it.

Im interested in your diff, or possibly whole trans. I could come pick it up, if necessary, Im in Phoenix area.

Nice picture.
Seems like he wanted to make a statement that the "butt" of the 968 is its "better side" for viewing!

Wow, I never realized I was so photogenic. The car parked there with the 356 as I was at the meet very early to help setting up with IMA. The pix of me in the chair with a cigar and red wine is one that could be captioned "It doesn't get any better than this". I've really enjoyed all 10 Celebrations I've attended. Each one has a some of the same faces but there is always new ones to talk 968s with. Thanks to Jay, Flash and Pete for all your effort in putting this one together. I was so busy I didn't get a chance to take any pictures.
