D1RSC Heat Shield
#1

The metallic pad adhered to the non-air filter side of the heat shield has come completely unattached from the heat shield. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a special adhesive I should use to put it back on? Thanks!

i've seen a couple of them do that. the glue on that stuff is supposed to be good to 300 degrees F, but i tend to think it falls short. you can get new material at summit. it's made by thermotec. i would then rivet it on like i did on the exhaust heat shield.

A small portion of mine detached ( in both cars ). I was thiking of buying some high-temp epoxy ( several glues with resistance up to 600 degree temps are available ) but I think "Gorilla Glue" which is available just about anywhere now - Home Depot, Lowes, Orchard Supply, ACE, etc.. also makes one in a -100 to 500 temp reange resistance.

I built 2 u shaped strips of Aluminium about .5 cm deep and crimped them onto either edge of the shield so the edges of the material can't lift.

I glued it back on with heat resistant LocTite glue. Let cure for 36 hours, seems good to go.
