D1R Supercharger update
#1

Well, I know I said I wasn’t going to make any more supercharger kits. They are incredibly difficult to put together, requiring a lot of time and attention. There are well over 200 parts in the kit. That requires focus to get it right. I also know I really want to pull back on the business altogether.

What I didn’t know, or didn’t expect, was the influx of new members to 968Forums. They appear to be crawling out of the woodwork. In doing so, they are finding their way to Design 1 Racing, and are asking about the kits.

OK. Here is where a few of you get to say "I told you" and "I knew it".

After doing quite a bit of homework (yes, much of this involved convincing the wife), I have found a way to make the Supercharger Kits in “one-off” form. They will be exactly like the rest of the kits. However, because I have to make things one at a time, they will cost more money. This is partly because the CNC still takes the same setup, and has the same charge for that, regardless of how many I run. Material is more expensive in small quantities too. The laser cutting of the sheet metal also falls short of the minimum, so I have to pay that too. Basically everything custom costs more to do one at a time.

Additionally, because everything is essentially custom made, it takes more time. Small jobs like these have to be squeezed in between larger jobs. That puts it low on the priority list, and can take longer to get done.

I will not be selling Stage 2 anymore. That was a patch to try to retain the OEM injectors, but it potentially stresses things out beyond my comfort zone. Fortunately nobody is running just Stage 2, and everybody is either running Stage 1 or Stage 3. So, it seems Stage 2 was a huge flop anyway.

I will be selling the CARB certified Stage 1 kit complete, as well as the Stage 3 upgrade kit (which will be modified to include the necessary items of Stage 2). (Stage 3 is still not CARB certified, though it has easily passed all emissions tests to date)

For those who want to tune it themselves and push the envelope, I will also still offer the "Hardware Only" kit, which contains everything needed to bolt the Rotrex onto the 968, but will not include the Rotrex, the pulley, or the tuning. I will also continue to offer the unmodified Rotrex.

Lead time from order to shipping is 6 weeks. It may come together sooner, but based on the history with some of these vendors, I would not count on it.

The price for Stage 1, complete with CARB sticker, is $5695

The price to upgrade to Stage 3 is $749

The Hardware Only kit will be $3195

The unmodified Rotrex will be $1995. Pulley sold separately (Contact me for details on various pulleys)

FINANCING NOW AVAILABLE!!!

Here's the really good news: I can now offer 6 month "same as cash" financing, and also extended financing, both through the PayPal "Bill Me Later" program (OAC). All of the details and specifics of that are on the Design 1 Racing website, as well as the PayPal site. I have no control over any of that, and cannot answer any questions regarding it. Please direct all questions regarding financing to PayPal.

I think we are all proud of you. Just think how many more satisfied customers you will have. Everyone who has looked at mine has ,as I have mentioned in the past, slobbered over it. Does this mean all of the other parts will soon become available. What did you bribe Ayn with or was it just the sad, dissatisfied look on a little boys face that convinced her? Little boy being one of ours of course or one of the new members! lol

I just passed this along to a 968 owner here as he was questioning the turbo charging process of a 968. I told him not to bother on several levels. Maybe he will join the forum.
