Wouldn't the drink the directly in the way of your elbow/arm during shifting?
I got a cheap one at Autozone that wedges between the console and the passenger's seat. Works great, stable and holds two drinks and a cellphone.

There is a cup holder replacement for the cassette tray, but I never considered it since it would be in the way when I shift.
Wait a minute, there are a few of us smokers left. I don't use the ashtray tho. I have a fire extinguisher on the drivers side below the rear "passenger" seat.! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Cigar smoke is pretty permanent Cos.
I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

1. Wedge.
2. Leave the glove box door open and rest your drink on that. Just like a table top. It's got that cut-out for a cup, and the drinks hardly every spill. Just have to be sure to make smooth turns.
3. But best of all is to just have a passenger (spouse) hold your food and drink for you. That's the best!

Ditto on "the Wedge". It's not permanent, it's very functional, and it's cheap! (five bucks at Auto Zone)

Double ditto on the Wedge. Just put mine in this summer and it's been great.
It's a quick install (jam it in) and de-install (unjam it and toss in the trunk). It also doesn't take as much of the passenger seat as it appears; my right seaters have said it's fine. It will hold most cups well, but water bottles are narrower and tend to fall out on corners (or maybe just the way I corner?). As long as lid's on, no problemo.
Cheers,
Kathy

I recently bought a pretty spiffy (does anyone say "spiffy" any more?) all aluminum cupholder for my 911SC, which would probably work on the 968 as well...
It attaches with a single clamp screw to the front of the passenger seat inside seat rail... sort of slips over it, and then you tighten the clamp... it is in the shape of a paddle, with the large part cut out to hold a variety of drink cup sizes...
Very nicely finished in black anodized aluminum, very solid, and fit the Porsche design very well... I will have to snap a photo and post it for all to see. Now if I could just recall who is selling them... none of the usual "Suspects", unfortunately...
Try Googling Porsche Cupholder and see what you get... the only donwnside was that it wasn't cheap... maybe $40.00, but for a very nicely machined part, it looks to be worth it! And, if you don't want it in place, it fits in the glove box....
