[size="2"][/size] Had to go on e-bay and fight to get another one, which happily and luckily works fine. As with a lot of things on this vehicle that was described as "it needs nothing" it needed replacement, as it did not work at all, and was leaking some kind of oily fluid inside the dash. Be careful who you buy from.

i could have opted for the thermometer in the mirror when i changed to the Homelink mirror with compass and garage door openers - i didn't want to run the sender wire though - i could always change that out if the dash gauge dies

...leaking some kind of oily fluid inside the dash. Did you get this problem corrected? If not, it could be your heater core has begun to fail and is leaking water and coolant which will eventually find its way into the passenger side footwell.

[size="2"][/size]That is why I replaced it with the one I bought off E-Bay. After I replaced it, I had it sitting on the table and an oily fluid leaked from it.
The one originally in the car when I bought it was the one leaking.

My guage works and seems to be pretty accurate... Often I drive past various billboards with integrated time and Temperature displays. My guage is either spot on or out by 1-2 degrees. Also, the temp toggle switch works and stays where I set it [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img].

Of course, now that I've made the P-gods aware of this 'problem' they will set about to rectify it shortly. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img]

Mine works. There - I did it. Probably jinxed the whole deal. It was stuck on C when I got the car, but we kept pushing the button and it changed. Have not touched it since - I won't even clean it [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]. Seems to be accurate enough for my needs (which are minimal).

I don't want to hijack the thread but Flash, could you please elaborate on the Homelink mirror/garage door opener/compass thing? I've got the "which Audi sun visor will fit a 968" idea on my list of wants/mods. I loved the Homelink feature in my wife's A6.

Mine still works well, and there are 105k miles on the odo now. I'm surprised it hasn't failed yet. I'm also amazed the clock works, those broke down in my 944s in just a couple of years after leaving the showroom..

lonestar - it's a mirror replacement - it's exactly the same as what comes in many new cars - homelink sells it to GM and others

you can google homelink and see the different models

i'll get around to posting a thread soon - i wasn't ready until now - on the first attempt the windshield broke - the theory is that either it got smacked or that the button that comes with the mirror you glue onto the windshield is too small for the load of both the mirror and the radar detector which i attached to it - i changed it to a larger diameter one and things are great

Just a short additional hijack... How is your detector working? Looks like the new Bel GX65. I got teh Escort version of the same unit and man have I had problems with that, which I'll chorinicle once Escort and I stop bickering over teh solution.

i no longer use the suction cups on the 968, and am deleting them on the denali this week - i've been using the prototype for a mount for about 6 months now - i won't be able to use it in the M3, but with the other cups i have, i will have plenty of spares
