Cruise Control
#1

This problem is starting to occur with greater frequency. The cruise control will not always engage. If it doesn't, turning the ignition off and then restarting the car will generally correct the problem, and then everything is fine until I shut the car off. Then, when started again, it may engage and work fine. Or, it may not, and I'll turn the engine off and on again. It's almost like there's a sticky relay - but I don't know that there's a relay anywhere in the cruise circuitry. Ideas?

Maybe the clutch ot brake switch acting up? Jiggle the wires at the connector down there.

i just responded at the other site, not knowing about this thread

in addition to the brake switch, check your contacts and grounds in your brake lights too - a bad connection there will trick the cruise control into thinking you stepped on the brakes and will disengage - happened to me

On my 928, the cruise control brain worked intermittedly and/or would surge. I took it out and resoldered the nearly 100 joints and put it back in and it has worked perfect for over two years. It's saved me lots of speeding tickets. Cold solder joints on the older cars (esp. the 928) is not uncommon.
