collecting stuff - new arrivals
#1

so, we all know my other half is the ebay queen - she has been amazing at finding 968 memorabilia - the garage is over full with the stuff, and spilling out into the rest of the house

this last week a couple of new things arrived:

the 968 coin that came with the 1992 calendar

the hasegawa yellow club sport model (already had the blue standard one) - someday i may actually assemble these

but, most importantly, the 1993 showroom video - it has some amazing footage of the 968 on its 100,000k 100 day trial, some great track footage, and some really cool beauty footage of the car

i'll eventually edit and input the footage, and put it up here for everybody to see

lol - i think i need to go out and get some flowers or something now

Hey flash, I'm a coin collector. Is there anything that will get you to part with that coin?

lol - nope - sorry - been hunting for that one - snagged the first one she found - had heard of it, but never seen one - gonna go out and get a case for it this weekend

here's a shot if it though:

it's been fun collecting this stuff - she found some very rare items

an odd one for you (besides the wind up car) - i have a matchbox (yes, matchbox) horizon blue cab

here's a shot of some of the stuff she's found:

besides that, i have 20 some odd posters, a bunch of 968 books (8 i think), and a stack of other small stuff (pics and such)

only a couple of things i want that are still noteably missing

lol - i think i seriously need to upgrade from flowers

time to contact the Getty foundation and see if they can convert your garage into a 968 museum ( " the new branch " site...after all, it's just a few minutes down the road from their main collection of other valuable stuff .. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )

well, i'm not looking to get into copyright trouble with porsche by putting it on dvd, but i will find the time to edit down the 968 stuff and get it into a web friendly format

I think when it comes to copyrights it's a problem if you're planning on selling these for personal gain, esspecially if this is something you can still BUY from Porsche. Or if you use the material to deface, discredit, or hurt the reputation Porsche. But the video is 13 years old, it could almost be considered archival, or historical in nature.

that's what i thought about the 968 factory CD too - then some copies got out there, and somehow it got traced back to me, and i got a nice little note from porsche telling me i was a bad boy - nothing ugly, but it was pretty clear

i don't think they sell either of these anymore, so i don't get the problem, but, i'm not looking for any kinds fo trouble with porsche - i am involved with them well beyond this, and don't need that kind of political problem

porsche is very tough when it comes to their material, logo and likenesses - they don't like it being bandied about without somebody paying the royalty

i will be having a conversation with them in a month or so, about use of the logo for something else - i will have this conversation at that time

yeah - i'm hoping that in that conversation, that i can persuade them that the good will earned from allowing the free distribution of a few things like this, with the understanding that none of it is being sold, would go a long way with those who would be further inclined to purchase another porsche

brand loyalty is everything

Well, I have the coin that came with the 2001 calendar and I'd love to swap for the 1992 coin. The 2001 coin does not have a car on it; rather, it says "Porsche 2001" and shows the Porsche crest on one side, and the other side shows two renderings of buildings and says "Porsche in Stuttgart and Leipzig." (Interesting that it is in English.) If anyone comes across someone who'll swap for the 1992 coin, I'd like to hear about it.

lol - oddly she doesn't really have much in the way of hobbies, and she finds the stuff way before i could even think about it anyway - she really makes it hard to find gifts for her (that are anything special)

I have a Riviera Blue CS 1:43 still in the box that I would sell. I just found it yesterday when cleaning out my closet.

I also have a large 48 X 36 Celebration in Hershey color Poster from 2002. I won it in the raffle.

I will take offers on both items.
