Could anybody enlighten me on why there is different stock coil springs for the coupe and the cabriolet?



I can't believe that it is because of the weight difference which at 154lbs. is not that much. But what bothers me the most is the price, at +/−$205 (951 343 531 03 904) for cabrio and +/−$299 (944 343 531 04 904) for coupe. What could be the reason for this?

actually it is because of the weight. the springs rates are identical, but DOT required a specific minimum height for lights, bumpers, and such. the 1/4" drop that the extra weight put on it was too much.



if you need a set of cab springs, i have a set of very low mileage (14k miles) cab springs that i could be persuaded to part with. i put hardtop springs in there to lower the front a touch.

That is good news to me, because it is just the height I need for the bumpy South African roads.



If you can be persuaded, that will be great, because the part is no longer available and neither the German nor the American warehouses have stock.
