Does anyone know how you input the code in a CR1 or CD2? I have a "9" in my code and with only 6 station selection buttons I'm not sure how that works. Thanks!!!

I just bought a '94 968 that the stock Porsche <b><!--coloro:#ff0000--><!--/coloro-->radio<!--colorc-->
<!--/colorc--></b> keeps showing CODE on the screen and thus won't work. The supposed code required has a 0 in it, which of course doesn't exist on the key pad (only the numbers 1-6 are available). I was told by Porsche that you have to punch in any number from 1 to 6 and then use the seek buttons to change that input number up or down to get to the 0, but when I try to do this the number never changes from what I originally input. What gives with this <b><!--coloro:#ff0000--><!--/coloro-->radio<!--colorc-->
<!--/colorc--></b>, is it defective or am I not using the right procedure? What is the right procedure? Damn POS...


Put in the number without the 0. That works on my CR-1.

Jeff,

I seem to remember the CD-2 having two numbers on each preset button.
For example, the first button represented 1 or 2, and the second button representing 3 or 4.

It's been a while, so maybe I'm off base.

Do you have a CD-2, or are you hoping that there is commonality with the CR-1?
If so, are there multiple numbers on the buttons?

I do have the CD-2 and thought the process would be the same with the much-more-common CR-1.

I never had a problem entering the code on my CD-2.
I still have it in a box with its documentation, so I will take a look tonight when I get home to see if something joggs my memory.
First thing I'll check is if my code numbers include anything above a 6.

I did find the instruction booklet on a CR1 and it doesn't wrok for my CR2. It did say "code" when i first plugged it in, now it just says off, sure looks nice though!!!

some of those things double up buttons (i.e. 1 is 1 and 6, 2 is 2 and 7, etc) to get the second one you push a button twice (i.e. push 1 twice for 6)

Looks like your radio is working as designed...

From the CD-2 Owner's Manual:

<i>Should the voltage of power supply to the CD-radio drop below 5 volts due to a dead battery,electrical repairs, or removal (such as theft), the CD-radio will not function when voltage is restored. The Display will show the word "CODE."

The proper 5-digit security code shown on the two I.D. Cards supplied to you must be entered using 6 preset switches (1 through 6) when the CD-radio is turned on and the display shows "CODE." If the correct security code is not entered in the three successive tries, the display will show "OFF" and the CD-radio will not accept entry until the CD-radio has been left on for 24 hours.

My security code does not contain any numbers greater than 6.

I suspect you have the wrong security code.

Good news is that you have 24 hours to get the right one before you can try again [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Now, what do you think they mean by "left on for 24 hours"? I checked two Porsche dealers and they both gave me the same code, with the 9 in it!!!

The instructions for the CD2 say nothing special about entering a digit greater then 6?

I went through the whole manual again to look for any sign of how to enter a number higher than 6. No luck.
No mention of it at all.

I checked all of the sections, not just the security code section to see if there was a method to enter a number greater than 6. Unfortunately, the CD-2 has no ability to directly access a track on a CD or radio station by number, or anything else that would require anything above a 6, so there was nothing about it.

Mysterious... and frustrating, considering that you got the code from 2 sources.

With the 24 hour timeout feature it would take 7 years and 37 days to try all of the combinations.
(sorry, couldn't resist doing the math. I know it doesn't help)
