clunky hatch sound
#1

PROBLEM: I hear a clunky sound when going over bumps and such on the road. It sounds like the rear hatch is unsecure. Stop, check it... tight as you please... any ideas?

Possible delamination of rear glass from frame, do a search.

Spare tire and jack all secure? Nothing in the cubbies loose? Worn rubber bushings on the rear sway bar?
Sounds travel to where you least expect to hear them.

I checked the spare tire and goodies, all secure. The rear window and frame seal looks in very good condition and looks like its been changed semi recently.

It very well may be the "plunger latch" adjustment. Actually I had to adjust one side already because it wasnt catching just right. Maybe the other side is set too low and allowing it to move. I'll dig into it soon.

Thanks for the feedback all.

Adjust and grease the the latches. This more than likely the problem.

I'm about 98% sure it was the tool kit sitting on top of the spare tire(rim). With the stiff suspension I think it was bouncing up and creating the wierd clunk sound.

I did grease and make sure the latches were tight.
