[quote name='kgain968' date='Jan 9 2006, 12:14 AM']For some reason I couldn't upload the pic in it's original form and had to resize it, but now I guess it only posts as an attachment, no thumbnail, as it seems to be .bmp

I tried to post the image original from it's url but it said that dynamic pics weren't allowed.

Reviving old thread instead of starting a new one...

I've been looking to upgrade my 16" rims to 17" but the options are limited when you factor in widths and offsets - specially when I throw out twists and the fat cups - just not to my liking...then I saw the new 10 spoke Panamera's 8x18et59 and 9x18et53 (always liked the old carrera 10 spoke but it only came in 7" nad 9" widths) and it got me thinking about 18's.

I when to tire rack and if I stay with the 8" and 9" widths (yes I know most run 10" in the rear) I can run 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 - maintains the same footprint as the 17" and the tires tend to be about 1lbs lighter per tire than the 17's. I don't know how much the new 10 spokes will run but the old 5 spoke (knife edge - which I like) came in 8x18et50 19lb 5oz and 9x18et52 22lb 13oz (per wheel enhansement) I don't know what the new Panamera 10 spoke might weigh - using the 5 spoke I believe the 18's would be no more maybe even lighter up front than 17's...

So my request is thoughts on moving to 18's in 8&9" widths - my car is my daily driver...

Thx Sam

alleviates some of the added stresses to the suspension

reduces unsprung mass

reduces rotational inertia

less expensive tires

wheels readily available at reasonable cost

works for me
