Will these fit my 1994 968? (without needing spacers)

I'll leave the rims and offset opinions to the experts, but the front tyre size sounds very odd. IMO it should be a 225/45 17 and the load rating should be the same as the rears, ie 94 W [orY].

As an aside has anyone any experience with the FALKEN FK452 or ZE912? I'm having a hell of a lot of trouble finding road tyres here in Aus. that will fit.

identical wheels to what is on my white car. From a Boxster. No spacers needed. But I would use a 225/45 x 17.

I have just got some 996 10 spoke wheels to use with winter tyres, The rears fit fine, same size as the originals. The fronts with the same dimension and offset as the original post, don't. ie. 17 x 7 x et50. They just foul the front hub bearing grease cap. I have some 3mm shims arriving, which I hope will alleviate the issue.

edit - Just read the link in the thread a couple of posts up - this issue is covered there. I will be using steel wheel nuts and making sure there are sufficient threads on the studs.

Follow-up question to anyone running the boxster tires mentioned in the first post (Kim if you are out there!) . I got the wheel and tires, and unfortunately the tires are more worn then advertised so I will be putting new tires on the rears. My question is how wide can I go on these rims (both front and back). I'd like to go as wide as possible without causing any issues.

you can generally go 1 and sometimes 2 sizes wider than stock.

the brand and model of tire will determine the sidewall stiffness. the sidewall stiffness will determine how wide you can go before it "wallows". for example, you can go a size wider with a bridgestone S0-3 than you can with a michelin pilot sport, because the bridgestone sidewall is stiffer.

you can use the specs and reviews on the tirerack site to help determine how wide you can go.

be aware that you also need to pay attention to outside diameter, so as to maintain accuracy of the speedometer. you also need to maintain no more than a 3% diametrical difference between front and rear to maintain proper function of the ABS.

Thanks Flash. I think I will go with Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports - 225/45R17 and 265/40R17. Just need these for light street use. Car is more track dedicated and I have 968 18" Turbo 3 Piece Wheels Hoosiers for the track

I'd probably stick with the 255/40/17 to keep the speedo accurate.

Didn't think rear tire width would affect speedo.....

Flash do those tire sizes meet the 3% tolerance you mentioned above?

look up the particular tires you want on the tirerack site. 25" O.D. is the spec for us.

Thanks. Looks good - 225/45R17=25" and 265/40R17=25.4", so only 1.6% difference.
