car show in Greenwich, CT this Saturday
#1

If anyone is planning on attending the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance this Saturday, June 5, in CT. stop by and say hello. I will have my black 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe on display at the Roger Sherman Park in Greenwich, starting at 10am until 5pm. The show continues on Sunday with only imported cars shown.

I highly recommend this unique show, since they always have rare and expensive cars on display.

This is a world-class event. I attended the domestic car day last year. I was planning to attend both days this year but family matters have interfered, so I won't get there at all. Sorry I'll miss you, Don. Best of luck.

In spite of the threat of being rained out, we made the 400 mile round trip to Greenwich for the event - this was our 4th visit, three with the Chevy and 1 with the 968 Coupe. Please note that visitor admission is only $25 for 1 day (children under 12 free if accompanied by adult) and $40 for both days.

Wayne Carini (Chasing Classic Cars) was there with a number of his cars and advised me that he had been sent to Branson, Mo. last November to buy the 57 Chevy El Morocco Convertible (which sold for $230 K plus fees) which we saw there. He would not tell me if Jay Leno was his client or not (Jay already has a 57 Chevy El Morocco Convertible).

The organizers served all the Registrants breakfast and lunch and provided a complimentary Boat Ride around the harbor. The Saturday event was well attended, in spite of the rain threat (just like our 968 Celebrations in Hershey - lol). I was told today by Bruce Wennerstrom that the Sunday Import Car event was also well attended with the rain starting 30 minutes after the awards ended - now, that is timing!

No prize this year - I will have to be satisfied with my 2006 Award, "Best Closed Car 1955 - 1962". I will be eligible to compete with the Chevy again in 2014!

If anyone has a Classic American Car (Saturday event) or Classic Foreign Car (Sunday), I highly recommend submitting your car info to be considered for the 2011 show (first Sat. & Sun in June). Judging is totally subjective (most unusual, best condition, unique color, etc) so anyone can win. The Registrant pays nothing other than your hotel and travel expenses to and from the event. Check www.greenwichconcours@aol.com for more info.

Best news is the Chevy drove well for the entire 400 miles and we got to chat with a lot of interesting people and saw, up close, some very unique cars!

Don
