Welcome,
Make sure that Timing Belt and Balance Shaft belt has been recently changed. If you don't know, change them!
Otherwise there is a typical laundry list of items:
Castor Blocks
That darned leaking PS hose on the front passenger side
Clutch inspection port plug that fell out a while ago
Cap and Rotor, spark plug wires are worth checking
Change <acronym title='heater control valve'>HCV</acronym> (keep a spare)
DME RELAY (Keep a spare)
Drive and Enjoy <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

As stated in the previous post, timing belt and balance shaft(s) belt are a must. Since the 968 has an interference engine, if these fail you're in for a huge bill. So if you don't know the status, at least pull a front timing belt cover and have a look at them ASAP to make sure they look good enough to even be driving it. Don't be alarmed if the balance shaft belt seems quite loose, they run that way. Do a search for correct feel of belt when twisted 90 degrees. Buy/borrow a belt tension gauge to set the new belts.
And then as soon as you can get the parts, replace them. Gates seems to be the preferred belt over the Contiteck. It's also a good time when you replace the belts to replace seals on the front of the engine (Paragon Prod. carries a front engine reseal kit, other suppliers may too). Lots of good info on this site. Search on any of the above for more complete info.
Welcome and good luck with your new purchase.
