Cab wind deflector
#1

Does anyone have the part number for the Porsche cab behind-the-seat wind deflector?

I think this is it: 000 043 202 50.

And I think the bag for it is 000 043 202 51

Back in July, the deflector was almost $376 from Sunset. The bag, should you want it, was around $32. Not sure what the prices are now....

I didn't know there was a bag... DOH!

I guess I'll be sending an e-mail to Sunset.

Yeah, unfortunately, if I ever get the wind deflector, I'll probably have to have the bag as well - we are a sick lot, aren't we?!

No problem. Now if we could just get a group buy going and get the price down a little....

Bio,

Add me in for a potential group buy! Always thought about getting one...just never followed through with it. Looks very cool installed in combination with the chassis brace too!

Now that I've "missed the season" for Flash's zip-up-the-middle tonnaeu cover, that will most likely wait until spring when the car comes back out.

Where can I find a picture with the brace and deflector? I don't think I've seen them together...

I don't think Sunset would do a group buy, unfortunately!

I bought the deflector last year and am not that impressed with it's performance. I need to make a 'beard' for it that will cover the opening between the seats. Air comes in by my left shoulder and then out from between the seats. It works pretty well with the windows up a few inches though.

I do not need a bag for it as I have never removed it once I installed it. I suppose if I had back seats that might not be the case.

I got it from Sunset in Oregon for $400-ish. I'd have been happier if I'd paid $250. It's a quality product but did not make a world of difference.

Beware that it rubs on the seats if the seats are back a ways and could probably be bent if you recline a power seat into it.

Direwolf, I think Jim (Anchorman) has both.

Bio, correct, doubtful that Sunset will do group buy.

Joel, thanks for that info...makes sense that the windows being up a couple of inches makes a difference. That little trick drastically helps reduce noise inside the cockpit as well so I'm sure it would help with the performance of the deflector. I'm pretty sure Anchorman told me about the 4" window trick. Works like a charm but looks a little goofy. I like having the windows down in a convertible. I also concur about not needing the bag as once it's installed, I doubt I'd ever take it out.

Pretty sure you can get just the bag.... It was available back in July (might have had to come from Germany, so an extra week or two to get it).

the windows up 4" sucks, that's normally where my left arm would be resting when cruising at a static speed.

A post on that "other" forum lists the part number as 000.043.202.10, not xxx.xxx.xxx.50,... Anybody able to confirm one or the other? UPDATE: My bad, that's the part number that fits a 944 S2 - I wonder if it's "close enough"?

If I have to "frig" something into performing, I'm more apt to do my own thing entirely, and seeing as I've got the chassis brace already sitting there, I wonder if I couldn't cut my own frame and use some mesh fabric. It's pretty easy to get and cheap as dirt.

Here's some black mesh 5' wide and less than $5 per square yard...

unfortunately, the key to the design is not the vertical surface, but the horizontal one. this makes it difficult. a few have tried, but generally failed, at making something on their own. in the end, it has been a compromise at best. the OEM screen isn't great, but it fits and works better than anything else i've seen so far

as to the part number, i'll see if i can find it, but i'd just call sunset. they have the part numbers for both the screen and the bag for it.
