944 Turbo S Rear Lower Spoiler on 968 Cab
#1

I always envied my buddy's 944 Turbo S with the rear under-spoiler, and I was wondering if one would look right on a 968 Cab given that the rear bumper is entirely different and there's no top spoiler to offset it.

This is the only evidence I've seen that such a thing can be done,... has anyone else seen this?

I was wondering about that rear bumper - so that's the Euro edition. Hmmm, I still like it, and those spoilers are pretty common nowadays.

The S2 cab is all over the place in the states and has the same bodywork as the 951. I don't see how this under spoiler would fit the 968. Only one way to find out for sure though.

lol - i don't like the rear end either, and would have changed to the 968 rear, but a turbo cab would have been a much easier choice

I'm not a fan either. It looks like an after thought. The rear of the 68 looks very uniform and the angles are smooth not jagged. This is how they're able to keep the lines nice and clean.

I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

The 968 rear has always looked "right" to me, not cobbled together. From the side view, it balances the front end nicely, rounded and shaped, and if anything, could use something like the front batwing in color, material, and profile, to balance out the look front to back.

I think that they got it right, along with the monochromatic tail lights. It's a top design, and stands up well or better than what's out there new, now.

I could be convinced otherwise, but I tend to prefer my mods on the inside. Does anyone want to "photoshop" something like the 951 cab pictured by on a 968? It might be cool...

I was thinking of trying that, but I have been looking for two views from exactly the same angle, and the same color to make it easier. So far everything I've seen has been quartering to or away.

Never liked that spoiler, or diffuser or whatever it is. Looks like a big hunk of plastic glued on to the bottom of the car.

Well, I prefer the 968 rear, the 951 diffuser is nice too though. Only thing to me the 968 has that the 951 doesnt are the side skirts. 968 side skirts really finish off the design. The 951 looks bare side by side in that area. The euro bumper is sexy though. Im putting the euro bumper on my 951, when its gets painted.

I kind of like that wasp-waisted look on the 951, and the side skirts are OK, but I saw too many bad side skirt jobs on Mustangs and other muscle cars, so they remind me a little of those, even though it was the Mustangs imitating the 968 and not the other way 'round.

I haven't quite found the perfect picture to PhotoShop yet, but I keep coming back to this one for some reason... I think I just like the palm trees.

Hmmm, I gotta say it looks pretty good. [Image: cool.gif] But I don't think there's any way it would fit the round butt on the 968. It'll have to stay a "PhotoShop Queen".

Correct me if I'm wrong (you know who you are) but the under-body design of the 951, 944 S2 required that rear spoiler, it was functional. The 968 has no requirement for that spoiler underneath as the aerodynamics were cleaned up. All you would be doing is adding weight and creating turbulance.

PS, I own a 944 S2 as well and I do like the look of the rear spoiler on that car.

actually, it was functional, but the 968 just deleted it, like many other things - from an aerodynamic standpoint of the S2 and the 968, the underbody of the car is identical - the panel was one of the reasons the aerodynamics were better on the previous model than they are on the 968 - drag was lower and tail lift was not as bad

I don't like the spoiler, or most "add on plastic pieces" on cars for that matter. The 968, IMHO, is a beautiful and timeless design just as it is. I had my 968 at the car wash last weekend and a guy with a new 5 series BMW was admiring it as it was being dried. We started talking and he asked me if it was a 2011 model. He was shocked when I told him it was 18 years old.

Well, seeing as it will have to be developed, I'll focus on things that are more readily available, like which color LEDs to get on the new mudflaps... [Image: laugh.gif]
