First pics of my new ride
#1

Well, here are some pics of my ,"new" 92 968 Cab. I needs a little work but I picked it up for song. Sorry for the bad quality pics, I was really testing out my new camera lens and did not even wash the car(s) for this pic. I promise better pics in the future once I throw money at it such as nicer rims, paint, etc...

I am currently contemplating repainting the entire car to the Porsche blue of that year or repainting the stock color. I do not want 2 white cars.

It does need a fan relay (Porsche dealers told me only the place in US in stock is Atlanta-5 days). Plus it has a flat spot in WOT acceleration from 4000-5200 until Variocam kicks in and hesitation from idle (DME relay probably). Otherwise it runs great. i tried posting on the ,"other" site but it seems be down recently. Anyone know if they are in need of a new server?

Very cool! Enjoy the cab. You should paint it Riviera Blue!!! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I would loose the pin stripes not my cup of tea. White is a great color just ask Russ and Dave lol!

Thank you. That blue is nice for sure.

On the pin stripes, I can't!

The bonehead before me had a layer of clear coat placed ON TOP of the pin stripes! Apparently it was always peeling! Thus the upcoming paint job.

Stay with white or go with the blue.

I like the blue idea.

Id go with the stock color only for the purpose that the engine bay door jams etc are white..so it would look a lot better if everything was white..plus I think the car is worth more if it keeps the stock color. Trust me you'll be happy when there is a nice new shiny coat of white on there!

Thank you, that is the largest issue with going to another color. The door jams and rear hatch area are easy to paint as I would remove the rear carpet. The engine compartment is a bit more difficult. Best to remove the engine which I have not decided on whether I will do at this time. But yes, I agree, it would be best to shoot the engine compartment as well. Only takes less then a day to pull the motor out so I am not sure at this time. I need to iron put some other issues on the car such as the flat spot.

I cleaned the contacts on the DME relay both inside and out and the car runs noticeably smoother. Still I will order another from Paragon shortly along with a fan relay and other stuff. If they accepted AmEx, I would have ordered last week. I’m too lazy to pull out the Visa/MC as I do no not carry those with me.

Lee, keep the stock color if for no other reason than value.... these are fairly rare cars and keeping the stock color helps as buyers are people who generally know what this model is. Blue on White looks pretty good in anycase. Yes, I've done the color change on cars in my youth and trust me, there is a LOT more involved than appears on the surface - think about the edges of the door panels, behind carpets, trim, wiring harnesses, hardware etc. Unless you strip it completely, you'll find somewhere sometime - the white shows up! Trust me on that one - and yes, I have stripped a car completely to repaint (1967 Jag XKE roadster) - I spent a LOT of time and $$ to do that one.

Flat spot on accelleration? Check out the AIRBOX mod on this forum - you'll be really pleased with the results - it sure helped the 968 Tip I have in the garage!

Have fun with the car - it's a nice ride and fairly inexpensive to maintain as far as Porsches go!
