Cab guys

Had some work done on my car and they had to play with the top. When the top is down I do not recall there being any play in that if you went to lift it up with your hand there really was not much movement.

Now it seems I can lift it up about 10 inches. Only reason I care is the top is now making noise, when before it was dead silent.

You talking about the tightness of the top material itself? Should be tight enough to bounce a quarter off of, from the top side. My liner sags a bit but nothing even remotely annoying. Top should be tight. If you can move the top fabric 10 vertical inches with the the top closed and locked, something is bad wrong. I wouldn't drive it with the top closed in that case.

There are some fasteners along the bows that you might check. Other than that I can't think what might make it that loose.

And of course pictures would help.

I am talking about when the top is down. I can pull it up by hand a good ten inches. Where before i think it did not move. when it is up it is fine, tight, but i still have a noise.

Right. I always use the boot cover with the top down and so did not get your reference to noise. I never tried to move the top whilst fully open, but did have some trouble at the other end of the travel. Turned out to be a bolt, that I am waiting to replace. These might help.

Are you talking about road noise or motor noise when you are moving the top?

Talking about metal to metal type noise, rattle when moving, when the top is up or down.

I was just thinking that the play in the movement of the top might have something to do with the noise.

going by a convertible top shop today.
