don't think we are going to get the full story on this motor till its in bits.
but bits that size in the sump is never good, could that be part of the oil filter?
how much of the motor is now in bits?
is the sump right off yet, if not can you get one of those little usb cameras in there?

If you have a scope look inside the spark plug holes to see how the cylinder walls are. Guessing one of them is pretty scored up.

Snap on do one with a 90 degree mirror in the camera end, used one on mine when the seal and pointless cap fell off one of the injectors and disappeared into number 3 cylinder, took me a week to get it out without taking the head off

Not in my experience. I have seen v8s Run with one dead cylinder for thousands of miles. My friend had a Dodge 318 that spit out its oil ring and scarred the cylinder up, and he ran it for over a year like that. Why the engine is seized is still a mystery.

not to mention the large dent in the wallet.................
engines are hard to come by over here so a high miler would cost 4K$ a low mileage lump possibly up to $8K
think i will stay clear of hunting for extra power.. just work on the handling a bit more

Tohe oil is clean, so I would have to guess that it has not been like that for very long. Usually, when the ring takes out the cylinder wall the exhaust gases blowing by dirty the oil quickly. It may have been possible for a piece of the ring to have gotten past the sump screen and jammed up the oil pump, but that's total speculation.

Car prices are the same as spares $45K now for a clean Club Sport, $15K for a half decent coupe, tips and cabs are still lowish money

Did you use the oldskool flashlight allready !straight down in de plug holes , if it is as bad as flash thinks you wil be able to see the twisted metal in there .
