I have a Murano (and a Cayman S) that has the Bose subwoofer system. The Murano one is round and it is inside the spare wheel (ie in the back side) screwed down onto the mounting post. I have taken it apart to see what it looks like and it seems to:
1. have no interior sound deadening material
2. be essentially a long tube going round and round with the woofer firing into it.
3. The woofer also fires out the side.
4. the woofer is only 5.5 inches in diameter and is a dual voice coil unit.
5 there is no integral amp.
I have always wanted to build one of these - has anyone ever tried? Seems more interesting than a simple box (albeit with specific dimensions). The Bose unit in the Murano seems to be flat to about 35 Hz and doesn't do much above 100 Hz. It seems to be able to handle a lot of power. I do not know if it is like other Bose units and has signal processing as part of the amp system.
I originally wanted to try to install the Murano woofer in my (968 but it was too big to go under the seats or in the rear footwells. I don't want to give up my spare tire. But the one in the Cayman is even smaller.
