Hi Skip,

thanks for your efforts.

Wondered if there is interest in springs with stock height but

also progressive? With stock (maybe less) initial rates.

Also, I would be interested in 2-piece front rotors (drilled) but uses the

stock calipers. Since upgrading to larger applications are pricey and

not really necessary in daily driving (my opinion).

For stock height, we'd likely do another 1" spacer (same as normal 944) rather than a separate spring. Otherwise, the adjustable ride height kit we do is the most practical for those who want more control over height.

Not sure I understand the purpose in this application (non-race) for 2-pc rotors - can you explain? In my experience, 2-pc "floating" rotors are beneficial on track due to reduced weight, reduced drag and increased pad life - none are dramatic changes for the enthusiast/hobbyist. Generally, 2-pc cost 3 times as much or more than quality 1-pc drilled rotors. If you look at StopTech Aero Rotors, these can be even more. But hey - you buy, we fly

Hi Skip,

thanks for the explanations. I'll check your site regarding the ride height kit.

If there are minimal benefit for non race applications, then it may not be

worth the expense to design or purchase. (except for the visual massage)

i would be all over 2 piece rotors if in stock size, fairly regardless of cost - the idea of losing 6lbs or more on each corner is HUGE - that's an effective 100lbs off the car and a lot better braking and accellerating

but then, we all know i'm nuts about weight reduction, especially there

Has anyone purchased and installed the Hyperco progressive lowering springs Paragon is now selling for our cars??? If so, what was the actual drop that was achieved with the springs?

Thanks!

Also, how much time is involved in making the changeout? Any particular PITAs with this job?

Removing the struts, replacing the springs and re-installing them is about a 1/2 hour each side if you have done this kind of work before. You'll need spring compressors to take the stock ones out, but lowering springs don't need compressors to go back in.

But, while they are out, it would be an opportune time to change the strut insert, especially if you have stock dampers and the car has more than 50k miles. That will add a couple of hours to the job at least.

I agree with Dave on the above strut change issue, but want to be clear that the 968 does not originally use replaceable strut inserts. The only strut insert available for the 968 is the cut-n-drill type Koni Sport 8641-1414. I think most are familiar with this process, but I have to be clear so as not to get that email from a customer that says "You want me to do what?" Though, it appears that Porsche people are much more forgiving than BMW people.

Hacksaws at the ready...

If you'd like to learn more, here's a link to the product which has a link to the procedure:

Oh, and we now offer free domestic shipping on all Koni products!
