I like that wagon. That's got the kind of room I need, and it sounds like you have added your own performance touches to get it where it needs to be. Nice pics - best of luck! Next question is, how does it do in the winter, snow, ice, etc?

I looked at getting a 740il a few years back, and I'd have to agree with everyone here; repairs can be a killer. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the flimsy cup holder. They all break, and it is a $300+ replacement. If a cup holder is that bad, imagine when something really goes wrong!

I used to do all of my own work too, but now, with two young girls at home - my youngest just turned 1 yesterday and my oldest is 2 1/2, I no longer have the time to get under the car. Know what I mean?

Dont forget about the Acura RL and if you have the means the Hyundai Genesis is pretty impressive for the money. I've only read about it thus far but all the reviews seem to agree. I was extended an invitation to put it through its paces at FedEx feild last Sept. Really wanted to go but we had a vacation already planned. Oh well the car show will be rolling through in few weeks for an up close look.
Smokie aka Porschedude aka Pat- If you want a couple of free tickets for the car show let me know, shouldn't be a problem for me. Set up days are the best. The building is locked off from the public and all cars are accessible.
I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

Another couple of quick thoughts about the Bimmer 740 series cars. IMHO the 740i and 740iL generation you're considering are among the best looking sedans ever built. I love 'em but never had one. Everyone I know who did experienced the same terrible reliability and repair problems.
On the other had, I had a '96 M3 and a 2001 540i Sport and both of them were bullet-proof. I cannot figure out how one company can make one car some well with so much reliability and another so poorly with so many problems. Go figure.
