New genuine bat wings can be had for around 350 of your US dollars. Doesn't seem like a bad deal.

the front apron ("lower cover" is the correct name - part number 944.505.075.00.01C - i never understood "batwing") should not be hard to find, though finding a clean one might be an issue - those things get pretty hammered pretty easily

the center belly pan piece should be fairly common and in decent shape

the rear one will be tougher to find, but not impossible - i'm pretty sure it was also on the 951

IIRC, the center pan is the same as a 944, A used one can be had for $20.

Seems like some enterprising individual could fabricate and market a batwing that is both sturdier and less expensive than $350 for factory plastic. Doesn't Flash's car have a one-piece batwing/spoiler?

They do make that piece for the 951.

theoritically, with some type of belly pan at the back of the car. Do we want to speed up or slow down air flow? I rsearched a little and is more confuse then before. I am thinking to reduce drag so increase flow (increase suction/downforce). But I read that reduce flow reduce
drag? Flash, you commented on a potential rear pan. please share your thoughts.....thanks

Several Salvage Yards that I have bought 968 parts from are: www.oklahomaforeign.com (Oklahoma), www.20car.com (Phoenix), and www.partsheaven.com (California). Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

i have a one piece splitter and front apron, which replaces the separate lower panel and porsche motorsport splitter - it is made of fiberglass, but being one piece, does not catch everything and curl under lie the polyurethane unit did - it has survived a few scrapes and minor frontal impacts so far

as for making a new one for less, not likely, since the contours are such that it would be difficult to get the quality right for less - if you were willing to sacrifice some quality, then yeah, about $250 would do it

you would still need the remaining pieces, and the last one would have to be metal to withstand the heat

as for the rear, what we want to do is exit the air and create a low pressure zone behind the car - i would be following the designs of the later ferraris on this

Agree the new Ferraris designs. exit increase airflow from under the car?
or low pressure zone behind the car means increased drag?

So a rear belly pan is designed to help to exit airflow from under the car and reduce (drag)?
This is where I get confused.

the belly pan is designed to prevent air from staying under the car and thereby increase downforce

the shape, contours, and additional pieces are designed to exit engine bay air and promote cooling

the rear diffusers are designed to smoothen the airflow at the rear, and thereby reduce drag

it's not a simple process - for more information, there is plenty of text on body design out there
