Bay area
#1

Anyone in the Bay Area want to meet up this weekend? I'll be in the San Jose area and Sunday morning it would be nice to find some back roads. I know this is last minute again but that's just how I do things. Let me know Saturday evening could also work.

Oh well guess late notice doesn't always work so well. I'll go to the Good Guys show instead.

This day is turning out to be a bit whacky, so I probably need to hang around here, otherwise I would have driven to the car show and meet you there.. Sorry.

Plenty of future opportunities though...

not that anyone cares, but the water heater started leaking. called three places, all of them said repair is not possible, given the location of the leak ( rusted out from inside out - it's 15 years old, I guess water heaters live by the same standard as "dog years" . ) About $ 1,000 to replace No extra charge for Sunday work.. like that would matter..

That's $ 1 k that could have been spent to enhance the 968 ! Damn !!

A thousand bucks to replace a water heater!!!? You need to watch the DIY channel more often. ......

$ 400 of that $ 1k is thanks to the city of san carlos which added about

a million "new and improved" regulations regarding the installation of water heaters, causing the contractor to add a copper pipeline long enough to reach Alaska, and run it under the house, among a variety of other modifications to comply with.... ...actually, to justify keeping the city inspectors employed.

$ 400 is not worth the hassle for me ( if it had been a diy ) when the inspector shows up and draws a two page list of what needs to be re-done - that happened with the AC install - contractor had to come back twice, because the re-ispection was done by a different inspector who found additional issues the first one missed..

..sheesh !
