Coolant in Number 3 cylinder. Wouldn't start on Friday evening. Sounded like no compression to me. Had it towed to dealer. Water jacket leak somewhere. Probably will get a new engine. There are SOME joys to having one new enough to be under warranty.

Since it's under warranty that a great solution, just pop in a brand new motor every 50,000 Km.
Is this a known problem?

New Cayman engine has arrived. Sitting in crate on floor at dealership. Now we need to wait for a plastic coolant expansion tank - the pressure broke mine and it wasn't discovered until the new engine arrived. Needs to come from Germany. Der Furher has been notified. But Sargent Shultz knows nothing. How did that story go about the nail, the shoe, the horse, the solder and the war?
White 968 is losing coolant in batches but only periodically. Seems to "blow out" in large bunches (is that a technical term?) And then none leaks afterward. Need to get under and check hoses. Water pump and rad are both new as of October. I haven't an indoor hoist (or work place) and its been raining non-stop. Life's been good to me so far.
Just before that got in same car and went to open door - trigger on handle made a "snap" and now doesn't do anything. Locks work and handle works from inside. Parts ordered. From the Fatherland. I am no longer trigger-happy.
Flex pipe to cats on Cayenne rusted. Not replaceable separately. Vehicle needed 2 new cats and entire pipe assembly. Bolts on manifold then broke during retightening. A bolt was tight enough just before it was tightened a bit more and broke. Then needed to wait for manifold gaskets. Guess from where they needed to come!! Correct. But nothing $2200 couldn't resolve.
I'm still insane after all I've been through. AARRRGGGHHH!

Maybe it's time to add a Japanese car to the stable...
