My wife has an A6 and it just went in for its 45k service. The guys at the dealer told here she needed new brakes. I called to find out how much new pads would be and was told that the rotors and pads needed replacing on the front. This is the first set of pads and the rotors need to be replaced?? They wanted over $600.00 for the front brake job.
I called Sunset for the parts quote and it is about $300 with shipping for the factory parts.
Does it seem right that the front discs would be worn out from the first set of pads? I was told by the dealer you could not resurface the rotors. Oh yeah...the bake wear light has not come on yet.

My wife's '04 A6 suffered the same brake rotor fate.
Our Audi mechanic made a great point. He says, "rotor and pad wear is commensurate with how much high speed driving/braking you do". We drive on the autobahn almost daily and have to really lean hard on the brakes at times. We went through a set of pads AND a set of front rotors last year! I guess that's the price to pay.
