Are there any women here today?
#21

Perhaps hot was just following the PC route. Never a bad choice! Flash will need two swallows to run his test.

I'd love to know whether there are any females here. As an ultra conservative PC kind of guy, I would love to entirely drop the PC moniker!!! Lol

As a person who grew up in what could only be called Ocker, working class Australia - PC is not really my cup of tea (the hot kind - not the cold US kind). When I started working, the only women in the facility were admin ladies/typists. It has been a journey over the last 25 years to see how industry and mining has changed with the introduction of more and more women. One of my apprentice trainers was timed saying the "F" word 35 times in a minute - try that now.

I would love to drop some very un-PC jokes here, but it might cause an uproar. Oh how the world has changed (mostly for the better - no going out the back of the sheds to sort each other out), but it has removed a lot of the masculine aspects of work and made it very metro-sexual and even in most corporate offices - feminate. We are now at the point where PC'ness makes calling a spade a spade wrong - how did this happen? We have all of these PC titles and BS which do very little but alienate the majority at the expense of the minorities veiwpoint.

Anyway - are their any shielas (sorry had to add that) that own 968's. My view of Boxster ownership is that it would be at least 60:40 male/female split or even higher. Why is the 968 such a male dominated car? Even my wife wants a Mustang, but is a 968 something only technology types like and know about? Is this what will make the 968 a potential sleeper collectable?

What do people think are the Porsche models that have the biggest male percentage ownership versus those that would have the biggest female ownership (surely a 356 speedster has lots of women lusting over it - but a GT2 RS, most likely not).

Tough to tell if the 968 has a greater percentage of male ownership than other Porsches, could be that women who own them are just not into forums participation...naah, that couldn't be it - the 968 is a " dude car " ! Women who own it are simply very savvy car aficionados ( ok, aficionadAs to be correct.. ) and appreciate perfection when they see it / drive it We do see a lot of women driving Boxsters but then again, there are so many Boxsters out there maybe the greater visibility to that is waht leads us to catgorize it as a " chick car " ? But I've also seen quite a few women drive 911s as well, including a couple in GT3s so not sure what assumptions to make about any given model Porsche's gender split. However, to speculate, I would say Boxsters lead the group by a large margin of women drivers.

Incidentally I have not seen any women drive Ferraris, but plenty as passengers in Ferraris. I have seen plenty of women drive Corvettes - maybe the Vette is as much of a " chick car " as the Boxster ?! Heck, even the name " Corvette " is about as girlie as can be for a car .

we have 16 members who entered "female" in their profile, 11 of which are in the last year. that field was not required to be entered though until recently, so it is possible we have a lot more.

Would the real female members stand up and be recognized? if we have that many perhaps some are reading this oh how shall I say stuff, and might find it objectionable. Look how many NASCAR adherents we offended! Ladies time to speak your piece or at least let us know your there.

If i might be allowed to generalize for a moment, I suspect the ladies prefer more reliable cars than these 20-year old sports-y models. Political correctness aside, a roadside failure has potentially entirely different consequences depending on your gender.

If my saying so offends someone's sensibilities, I really don't care.

But there must be some ladies that deal with the 20 year old worries as we do. What will be will be but there sure is a lot of fun to be had!

Some perhaps, but I'll bet they're exceptions, and calling out the exceptions is the opposite of generalizing is it not?

Aw, screw NASCAR, but we definitely don't want to alienate any ladies who may lurk here and are hesitant participate just because a few of us perverts( that's a redundant term for "men" ) might make a few remarks that push the envelope of good taste ..

So, come on ladies, we need your posts contributions to make our 968 cosmos even better than it is.

As I've said before, I have a few absolute passions ( to the point of being obsessions ..) in my life : women, food & drinks, clothes, watches, cars, and soccer. My wife thankfully lets me indulge to my heart's content in just about all of those, EXCEPT one.. :-(.

So women on this forum = always a good thing !

Watches eh? Watches and cigars, this will eve be more interesting. Tama I expect your right although I hadn't thought of it that way! I expect in many ways some woman would rather be the exception rather than the general although the issue might determine that.

Surely, if there are women on the forum, they would be interested in all of the technical advice and problems - like any owner of a 20 year old car would be. To be forewarned is forearmed - so one of the benefits of being involved in this forum is knowledge of what might go wrong, how to prevent it, if it does go wrong, what it might be and what to look out for - all good things to know.

Whilst we are not as much a bunch of anoraks as say "old and crusty MG owners" - this is still a good forum to learn from.

Even if the women members siply view the posts - it is another good example of male behaviour (albeit somewhat moderated) when we get together.

Based on the lack of positive proof - either there are no women here today or they are sitting silently in the background.

So who threw that rock - she did, she did, him, him, him, him?

Spoken like a true male! It's interesting we have had no responses. Guess that means we are safe with the ribald sophomoric human that at least some of us crave( I mean enjoy) , craig btw I agree with you.

yup - as a rule, women don't worry about such things. they get a mechanic to do that (or the husband or whatever). my wife loves cars but has no interest in forums or such places. women are not generally as involved in the car as men. they tend to see it as transportation or a status symbol, but not as a project or hobby.

they're here, and they poke around, but they just aren't terribly active. lol - i think they think they have better things to do.

Does this mean that we are not the messiah, just a naughy boy?

Anyway, if a woman was to drop us a line, I might have to be like "Brave, Brave Sir Robin - who Bravely Ran Away!"

Normally it is the men who lurk in the shadows and dark places. I agree with Flash, that women might have better things to do, like waxing, hair, nails, clothes shopping, shoes, handbags, make-up - all things we can do without, hence we have more time. Perhaps this is the difference (but once again - yes I am generalising). At least we are not looking at porn (although my wife refers to this forum as my porn buddies).
