Anyone interested in a B&B group buy
#1

Would anyone be very interested in a B&B Triflo after cat exhaust system if we got a price substantially lower than the going rates of $805.99-$899.99 from all current online vendors. I was thinking sub $699, if so post here and email your email address and name, the more interested people we have the better the chance and buying power. Nothing guaranteed but I am inquiring into a few avenues, and just want to have some interested people should something come through, no obligation at this point, just want to judge interest.

Apparently there is the option of WITH resonator and WITHOUTa resonator, this is something we might want to do our research on first so we know which is better, or perferable to some.

B&B After-Cat Exhaust System http://www.bbexhaust.com/New/auto-flash.asp

Manufactured from durable T-304 stainless steel, the B&B After-Cat Exhaust System features 4.5" oval, rolled-edge tips and a 2 1/2" pipe. All exhaust tubing is mandrel bent on CNC machinery for the perfect fit and uninterrupted exhaust flow. Plus, the stainless steel flanges (also T-304 stainless) produce precision-fit and complete resistance to harsh elements. Performance-tuned mufflers, which generate the best possible performance gain and sound quality combination, complete the package.

just wanted to chirp in...

i got the exhaust from rs barn installed (finally) last night.

it's a total system including header, cat, pipe, muffler, and tip.

i only drove it a few miles last night because the gasket sealer had to cure, but the performance improvement was drastic.

it's definitely louder than stock during accel. at idle, it's just a little lower and deeper. at cruising, you'd not even notice.

it's very expensive and most wouldn't want to pay for it, but it's a huge improvement.

i'll post more on the other section i started.

I'd consider it, but I'm a city driver. I don't wind it up too often. There has been numerous discussions as to where the additional power comes into play. I'd be looking for more oommph in the 3500-5500 RPM range.

i haven't really driven the car that much with the exhaust, but from my 10 minutes last night, i think it helps smooth out the accel curve a bunch. no more lag anywhere along the rpm rise.

before, it seemed almost like a turbo - slow off the line and then it would really pull.

i'll post more tomorrow.

Just an update, I am waiting to hear back from four vendors, but in the meantime I have found one vendor who will sell for about $700, yes not a screaming deal but much less than $899.99 some are selling for. I will update as I hear more.

We have so far 4 members who have expressed interest, which is good, the more we get the better buying power we can achieve. Anyone else?

*UPDATE this deal of $700 is not too bad considering Eric's group buy rate of a couple years ago was $675. I will see how much they are willing to move.

OK an update, I have heard back from one of the vendors, this is from www.evoms.com which I "believe" is affiliated with the vendor who gav Eric S the original deal on the system he bought a few years back.

Anyway their original list was $895 and they agreed to a group buy tiered discount based on the number of buyers. The discount % they offered was satisfactory I felt, but it was being taken off a regular retail price I felt was high to begin with ($895). I went back and was able to negotiate a lower "base" retail price of $795 on the condition the minimum amount of buyers went up slightly from 2-3 buyers to 4-5. So the following is the group buy discounts they are providing to us,

4-5 buyers: 10% off Retail ($795) example $795 - 10% ($79.50) = $715.00

6-8 buyers: 15% off Retail ($795) example $795 -15% ($119.25) = $675.75

9+ buyers : 20% off Retail ($795) example $795 - 20% ($159) = $636.00

*note reg retail WAS $895 but we negotiated it down to $795 PLUS the discounts.

Compared to most vendors who are selling from $805.99-$899.00 these are decent rates.

I am waiting to hear back from at least TWO other vendors.

****One had a regular price of $735 which is without a group buy rate, VERY promising yet.

****The other a regular non-group buy rate of $760.75 + free shipping.

So we can see what these guys will respond with.

Any feedback from those who are interested? Any more interested people, ideally we should aim for 9+ it would seem.

OK apparently the gentleman ok'd the numbers a little too quick and has revised them to,

Kevin,

I apologize, I should have done the math before I okayed that. I just

looked at your numbers I can not go that deep. We are already into

discounted territory, so the best I can do is 08% - 11.5% - 15%... Even that

is deeper than I'm sure my manager would like to see, but that is the

absolute best I can do. Take care!

New numbers would be

$731.40 tier 1

$703.57 tier 2

$675.75 tier 3

I am in the market for an exhaust; so add my name to your potential list. From what has been posted in the past, there may be a problem with the B&B IF you elect to go without the built in resonator.

I am also looking at the RS Barnes system. Would anyone be interested in negotiating a group buy there?

Does anyone know the part #'s for the B&B systems with and without the resonator? This way we could compare to what the vendors have.

I have inquired with B&B themselves but they have yet to reply.

Can anyone share any comments on the B&B system with and without the resonator? Are both still available?

I also remember hearing that this cat back has a resonance at a certain rpm/load. Can anyone confirm...and indicate what rpm range. I cruse @ 80 (3250 rpm ish)

I am obviously interested in the group buy.

Taken into consideraton. The things I see in favor of the B&B are, quality of construction, ie. T-304 stainless stell, Mandrel bent etc, lifetime guarantee, proven system, beautiful finish. B&B is a proven outfit with good R&D, techinical expertise etc.

This puts us only 1 short of the 15% discount or $675. Now I would think that people could go ahead and start ordering if they like, if any members here are thinking about this and or go ahead on your own please let me know so we can use your purchase towards this.

What is the consensus to date on this?
