It is and that's not overspray. Look underneath ALL 968s and you'll see the same thing. It's a great car in a very unusual color.

Fellow 968ers,



Take it easy boys. Just because we're all comfortably sitting "anonymously" at our computers, it shouldn't allow us to lob ill-conceived "pot-shot" posts.



Indeed, the 1993 "rasberry" 968 Coupe is my listing.



The unusual Himberot paint is original; and as my friend Jarrod kindly pointed out, there is no "over spray."



Nearly all my Porsches have under 30,000 miles and haven't been driven in the rain. As such, there's no "grit" under the car to hide Porsche's original painting techniques, under coating and dreaded cozmoline.



The only mod on the listed 968 is a 3M "clear" bra. With only a couple of "pin" sized rock chips (above the afore mentioned clear bra), this 968 is in immaculate / original condition.



Himberot may not be for everyone.



However, since 1993, when I spotted a Himberot/Classic Grey 968 Cab in The Specialist (Sylvester Stalone, Sharon Stone & James Woods), and Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop III, I've sported a healthy "woody" for this unusual hue.



I love the car. However, I'm selling the 968 and my Guards Red 1990 944S2. Reason being, I started driving my 1994 RS America and am freeing up garage space for other soon-to-be-acquired Porsches.



Now before I get a "there is no such RSA as a 94" remark. Yes, Porsche did mfg a few 1994 RS Americas. They're easy to spot as only the 94s have matching "corded" fabric rear seats (e.g., 1993 RSAs came standard with the rear seat delete option).



As for the price, find another one!!!



Howeve, a "healthy" discout is available for 968 forum members!

Porsche, I just was voicing my color preferences. Admittedly Porsche chose some unusual colors that do not appeal to me at all. Nothing personal just not my taste.

No offense intended I thought this was an Ebay car that sold awhile back, as for price it has been my expierence that u only need one buyer who is willing to pay the price, u can't sell the car twice.

Porsche,

Seeing the car just sold and then listed again at a much higher price sure looks like a flipper. If that is not the case then that is cool. Too bad you have to sell the car so quickly though. I hope you get the money, better for the rest of us.



BTW, your car is part of the exclusive program (09991) because of the painted center caps (XD4), not the Raspberry paint.

As someone who has met and done business with "porsche" and after looking at his collection of "new old stock", I have one comment...how does he do it?

As you know, there are some areas of our 968s that are commonly found to be in only fair to poor condition. Also, these "items" are difficult and expensive to fix.



The high price on this car is due to its literal "as new" condition (and complete lack of issues/"picks"). For example:



The rear hatch on the Himberot 968 is perfect!!!! This is rare. As such, the hatch trim is still "showroom new" matte black and secure (at all 7 points per side). The "black coating" that lines the outer edge under the glass is original, un-touched, even and immaculate!!!! (you 968ers know how freaking bloody rare this attribute is).



The wing is secure, firm and flawless. The hatch gas struts are original with plenty of life; and the top hinge is "as new." Lastly, not even a hint of a squeek/sound comes from the rear while driving (let alone anywhere else from this pristine 968)!



BTW, DO NOT be tempted to install aftermarket "life time" struts to your rear hatch (or engine hood)!



Inevitably the travel is not equal; and there is WAY too much pressure in the non-OEM replacements. As such, the aftermarket units "fire" the glass up with one side propped-up higher than the other, which results in DELAMINATING the glass from the top hinge!!!!!! DRAT!!!! Just try to achieve an original OEM "fix" for this issue after years of abuse!



When considering a 944/968, one of the first "details" I check after verifying "no accidents/no paintwork," is the rear hatch, wing, glass, trim and hinge. Take note of this when viewing a potential purchase.



Next up, the glove box "side stops." These fragile items seem to be made from "break away" plastic. An OEM replacement means a whole new glovebox door (e.g., the stops are molded in). Yes, yes, yes, I know about the $12-$25 "Zimms" and other aftermarket "cheapy" fixes for this common problem. However, with "cheapies," the glove box "flops" open and in the end, the "fix" is not as Porsche designed or mfg'd.



These are just two small examples/items I check for on a Porsche that I'm considering for purchase (the list goes on and on).



As for a dealer or Porsche Independent that offers a $150-$350 PPI, I've found such services to be completely worthless when pursuing/considering a potential authentic concour/collector candidate.



For me, I'd rather "pay up" a 90-100 point car, than buy-on-price for a "fixer" at a "great deal" price (with a "we've never seen such a good example for a car this old" Dealer/Independent PPI).



Now, please, before you "bash" me for not heralding the merits of a PPI, I realize that such a service has "some" value. However, I only buy the very best (and I am very patient).



Short of the 997 GT3 RS and the world-beating Carrera GT, Porsche simply no longer offers anything I would consider at MSRP. As such, I am relegated to searching and "cherry picking" only the most pristine, original "survivors" that remain in collections (and occasionally "pop up" on the internet), that meet my "show room" new condition standards.



This 968 is easily one of the best. The color looks "nice" in pictures. However, when you seen it in person, it'll grab you (for better or worse). Color aside, this 968 is an amazing survivor in wonderful, pristine, "as new" condition; and yes, it meets my very high/exacting "standards."

i don't see where this matters - i was just poking fun because he goes through a lot of cars, and in my view, long before he can appreciate any of them - but, that is his choice - if he can buy them, sell them and make a profit, while buzzing them around for a few weeks, good for him



i'd just like to see him bring these uber-rare examples to some of the events around here, so that we can all appreciate them

We all had the chance to buy the car a few weeks ago. I guess we had hoped it would go to an new owner who would keep it and bring it to events like you indicated. We'll have to see how the flip goes.

Love it, love them all. Sort of reminds me of the Coral color I have seen from a New England member.

If I had the money I would be bidding and I am all for anything we can do to elevate the prices! Seeing these listed for 9 grand is an insult. I had mine in the shop for tires and received a couple offers. Admittantly I said I would only trade for a new Cayman.

I know you are going on and on about how good the car is, and I'm sure it is nice, but we certainly aren't taking pot shots just reacting to your listing. You go though cars really quickly, you seem to be listing this for a lot higher than it was purchased for. Maybe you can just reply and say why you are selling it so quickly and so much more $?



As for the lack of a PPI, what kind of mechanical checks do you perform in it's place? I don't do a PPI for information on the hatch, more so for mechanical issues.
