head lights won't go down
#41

I wanted to follow up on mine.  Mine was intermittent on one side.  I traced it down to two issues.

The motor has a spindle with very small teeth around the circumference.  The spindle rotates 180 degree between ON and OFF positions.

A hole on a brass crank arm attaches to this spindle and the inside of this hole also has small teeth. These teeth a quite fine. To keep the crank arm on the spindle a little bolt screws into the spindle. If this bolt is not tight, the crank can slip the spindle as the teeth are not overly aggressive.  Similar to a windshield wiper arm attached to the windshield wiper motor spindle

At the end of the brass crank arm eventually there is a brass ball joint that attaches to the end of headlight hinged arm.  Upon inspection, my ball joint had some resistance to movement.  Perhaps dirt or a bit or white-ish corrosion on the brass.   I put white lithium grease into the ball joint, moved it around a few times until it moved freely without resistance.    I tightened the bolt going into the motor spindle to make sure the arm did not slip.

So I think the bolt was not tight and the corrosion in the brass ball joint was enough to make the spindle slip.

Works reliably now.
