And Then There Were Three...
#1

...well, let's call it 2 3/4 or maybe 2 7/8.

The Cab and Coupe have been joined by a 1993 Black over Classic Gray Coupe that was advertised here a few weeks ago. I hitched up and drove down to Raleigh, NC yesterday and brought it back home where it will spend it's final days. Prior to seeing the car in person, I had considered a number of different options with regard to swapping parts, engines, body panels, etc. and which Coupe would be the donor and which would be the recipient, but after getting it back and doing some rational thinking, this car will get all but completely stripped.

It's a super parts car...I'll end up swapping the good stuff into the Amazon Green Coupe, selling what's not used and/or selling what comes off of the Amazon Coupe. I'll probably end up keeping many of the Coupe/Cab shared parts on the shelf. Some of the highlights:

Classic Gray dash in perfect condition - no browning, no cracks. May be too nice for "The Poopster" and go on the auction block.
8.5 maybe 9 out of 10 Classic Gray seats with no cracks or tears and only barely noticeable color wear on the driver's bolster. DS = 8 way power, PS = 4 way power, no heat. 95% chance these get made available for sale.
Almost new tires on stock 16" - these will go on the Green car immediately since it's almost time for new rubber anyway. I'll do my planned 17" Boxster S II upgrade later.

I'm super busy these days so I'm not in a hurry to disassemble, but if there's anything anybody may need or want, please feel free to get in touch. The car's not going anywhere anytime soon!

If the Hatch is in good shape and depending on the shipping costs I might be interrested.

Hey Darryl,

That's a nice catch! great deal! I thought about it, then realized that if I bought it, I wouldn't see my 43rd birthday.

Are you going to leave it hitched to your dd 968 and drive like that? If you have a breakdown, at least you will have all the parts you need right there!

Cheers!

Scott

I'd be interested in the rear hatch.

How about the radio? Mine has finally given up on the dispaly. No amount of "tapping" seems to work. No hurry.

cosimo...no radio.

prj24149...rear hatch is going on my Green coupe. Green coupe hatch has broken and/or missing trim pieces, f-ed up third brake light assembly but since it doesn't leak, it's most likely already spoken for.

rhudeboye...the Green Coupe really isn't as bad as I make it out to be. Many average folk actually comment favorably to which I reply "If you like this one, you should see my NICE one." It's certainly "rough around the edges" and has been "rode hard and put away wet" more than once in it's life, but is much more of a complete, running, operable car. It was an interesting thought process to decide which one was the donor and which one was the recipient. The batwing is in the rear cargo compartment as I haven't even cleaned out the car yet, but it actually looks decent. I'll let you know.

I'll start a separate thread or post items in the Classified section once stuff starts becoming available for sale along with my regular e-mail address so we don't clog up the board.

Makes sense, coupes are very fun to drive. I know the cabs are as well but its a different experience.

I'll be watching for the batwing. Outside of VA police, that trip down 95 is actually quite nice.

I need the passenger side sail (rocker, shark fin, everybody calls it something different) panel. Need the long portion provided it has NO damage whatsoever. Last "perfect" panel I got shipped by an ebayer had a gouge and two cracks......but it was "perfect" according to him!!! May have a couple of other needs/request.

Hi Darryl,

I am interested in the center console cover, or cassette cover in classic grey. Could you please add me to the list?

Thanks!

tom - done deal...I hope to have some time Sunday to start pulling some "easy" stuff off this beast.

roland - also done deal. Do you need the entire center console or just the armrest/cassette box cover?

rxter - no that 928 belongs to a customer. It needed some paint work on the pass front fender and needed a gradual blend across the entire front end as it needed to be just as mis-matched as the rest of the car, go figure. It's got a pretty bad paint job from a past full re-spray...and they didn't use the correct Guards Red, so you'll probably never be able to match it again. It actually came to us for some electrical issues and rear brakes, all of which are completed but now there's a pesky no start issue. Just like our 968s, the 928 suffers from bad grounds and gummy starter issues. It is FOR SALE, though.
