Most of the two-pole connector rubber boots in my car are cracking so I picked up a few boots, connectors, pins, and connector release tool from the nice folks at
eagleday.com for a trial run before getting enough for a wholesale replacement.
The experience has been frustrating. I started with the front knock sensor connector since the hood for that one was the worst. But I cannot for the life of me get that connector to release! I'm working blind - don't know which side to insert the release, so I've tried every which way and still no luck. Anyone have experience working with these?
The eagleday amp connectors are a slightly different design from stock - which makes me wonder if the original stock connectors are available from porsche. An excuse to call sunset tomorrow.
Finally - and I realize this is a tweaky question, but do any of you have a favorite tool supplier for this sort of electrical work: crimpers, the little release tools? The little eagleday tools are nice but since I haven't been able to make progress I'm blaming the tool. :-)
Cheers, and thanks.

For all you electrical geeks intrigued by my post there are many answers on rennlist. I wrote a post distilling all the info to get it into this forum's records - sourcing all the parts, with tips and techniques for removing/installing the connectors, etc but - heh - can't link to rennlist here. If anyone's interested send me a PM and I'll share my research.
