I think you need a 3ohm resistor, not sure of the wattage.

I also recall 3 ohm being what's needed. I even have some someplace, because I thought I'd need them to solve my airbag warning light problem. Then "unknown4u" came up with the diagnostic reset kit (that's currently being discussed, I think on another thread) and my dash has been without warning lights ever since - and, as far as I know, I have functioning airbags. I'll bring this gadget to Hershey, in case anyone needs to get "fixed".

Flash- How tight do you wear your harnesses? On a track car, of course they are pulled so tight you can barely breathe, for good reason - any slack in the harness is taken up by your body unpleasantly slamming into them in a collision. But this isn't practical on the street, not just because of the comfort factor, but because you need to be able to bend forward, particularly at intersections, to be able to check on traffic comming in all directions. Seems to me that harnesses have their own drawbacks in a street car. Thoughts?

actually, that sounds too tight - you are supposed to be able to fully extend your chest cavity without tension - the idea is to have less than 1" of travel of the body, but not interfere with any operation of the body

as for on the street, i actually keep them pretty snug, nearly track tension - i have no need to move around - i have adjusted the seat to a position where everything is within reach - the top is almost always down, i rely on my mirrors and i have excellent peripheral vision, so looking for oncoming traffic is not an issue - it took some getting used to, but i've been doing it now for 30 years, so it actually feels odd when i don't have them

Sounds like you've made them work well (though from Ayn's experience, they're obviously not for everybody). I installed a set in the 1965 Austin Healey 3000 I used to have, but probably wore them too loosely, in hindsight. My only complaint was, having lived in Phoenix at the time, they would get pretty sweaty in the summer. Did you tell your insurance company you removed your air bag? If so, were they satisfied with the fact that you have harnesses?

Hmmm... The insurance question could be a thorny one. I would imagine if someone were involved in an accident that resulted in injuries that the insurance company (I suppose it could be either your auto insurance, health insurance, or both) deemed could have been lessened if the airbag were present, things could get really ugly. But of course if you have a harness, and are wearing it correctly, the point would be moot, since a harness, as Flash states, would be at least as effective as an airbag in preventing injuries; probably more so, in fact. Seems to me one should think at least twice about going with an airbag-less wheel if you're not planning on doing anything to offset the safety impications of removing the airbag.

agreed - airbags are a good thing - i am not suggesting otherwise - i have them in both of the other cars, and in the other 968 - they will stay there - i made the choice for this 968 for very specific reasons, and took the steps to make sure that it was safer than i started out - i am function over form

which reminds me, i'm getting close to needing new harnesses - they are in perfect shape, but they have an experation date

i don't know anybody who has changed out their seatbelts, which are made of the same material, and would fail for the same reasons, especially in a cab where the sun beats on them

while they were safe at the time they were new, there is definitely a reduced safety factor for our cars now due to those components aging out

something to think about
