Where can I get my hands on one of those Turbo RS Front Bumpers?

Do you guys own "original equipment" or aftermarket?

It is just a fiberglass insert that is blended into the bumper cover. I beleive the factory ones were created with the same technique.



It can also be done by cutting and moving the lower portion of the duct area. Search this site for pictures posted by BoostFeen. Shawn did it this way.

The Fitzgerald site is interesting - but is it ever in need of updating. The calendar that shows dates available for an instruction session is for 2000!

a good body shop guy should be able to do this pretty easily - i removed the rib int he lower grill area and had it blended in, and it looks seamless - i am certain it could be done to the upper grill opening the same way



i opted not to do that, because i wanted to reduce the amount of air getting into the engine bay, as there is already too much, which in turn reduces the cooling efficiency on a normally aspirated car



it sure would have looked better though, and if i can figure out a way to further reduce the airflow, i may yet do it

Curious, how does less airflow entering the grill area reduce the cooling ability of the radiator? I like this RS bumper too but I would only do it if it helped keep the engine cooler. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

My yellow car has the original factory one it came with. The standard bumper was modified by the factory for the larger duct. They used this weird black adhesive which was peeling off the inside of mine. I had it fixed and repainted.



I do have a front nose piece with Fitzgerald insert pieced in and primed if you're interested

contrary to popular misconception (which is a leftover from the muscle car days), in todays cars, more air through the grill does not mean better cooling - what it means is higher pressure behind the radiator - this is BAD



in a perfect system, you have a high pressure zone in front of the radiator, and a low pressure zone behind it - that is one of the reasons that the lower pans and shrouds are so important



to find out what your car needs, go out and grab a manometer and take readings in front of and behind the radiator - make changes accordingly to create a low pressure zone behind the radiator



i've been working on this a lot lately, and have made some real progress with some new parts i have designed
