Yes, this car was evidently built by one of the guys associated with Ruf. I'm not sure of the entire history, but reportedly over 200k was spent building this car.

My mechanic and friend (Dave @ Smith Motorworks) has spent the last year sorting out overheating issues, and he has finally resolved any and all overheating problems. The engine ran like a dream this past weekend at Road Atlanta-------Yaaahoooooooo!

I bought the car from a guy in Wisconsin shortly after he had bought it from the guy at Ruf. Many not so good things happened at multiple track events thereafter. First of all we found out that somebody had concealed a head gasket leak by putting ceramic material in the cooling system. The custom radiator was clogged with this glass like material. We tried running the car after flushing the radiator but to no no avail. The radiator was not flowing. We had the same custom radiator re-made. The car ran cooler but the temps just kept getting higher and higher the longer I stayed out on the track. I always tended to ignore the temps because the car is so amazing to drive, so I definitely contributed to blowing a few head gaskets. Dave spent some time researching and ultimately came to the conclusion the the cooling system was totally designed incorrectly. The radiator was too big to fit under the hood in a vertical orientation. Whoever designed the car had fabricated obliquely oriented mounts to hang the radiator in an angled manner. A huge intercooler was placed in front of the radiator. The orientation resulted in very little air flow through the radiator. Dave ripped out the radiator and replaced it with a new custom dual pass radiator that is close to stock size and vertically mounted directly behind the intercooler with little or no gap. New custom fans were installed. Now she is cool as can be. The 968 never got over 200 F on 15 lbs of boost this past weekend.

Older pic----I'm sure this car has a history, but I'm not sure if it was ever entirely sorted out.

Simply put, it is awesome!!! Engine feels like it has good torque even before the turbo hits. I hope to post some dyno runs in the not too distant future with the new MoTeC engine management system.

Wasn't me, I'm on the other coast. I do have a bunch of vids on youtube though.

It looks like the car has been taken to the max in every way possible. Nice!

Is your fuel cell the Kokeln design (built by Fuelsafe) or custom? Any pics of the underside of it? I need more capacity for enduros.

I was going to start a thread a couple of weeks ago called "Ran into a nest of Cobras", but was too embarrassed because I forgot to take pictures, even though I had my cell phone with me. I know this is off topic, so I'll keep it brief, but a couple of Saturdays ago, I pulled into a classic Jaguar shop's parking lot, primarily just as a more-interesting-than-average place to do a U-turn, and what should be going on but a private dyno day for the local Cobra club! What a collected of gorgeous, phenomenal cars! Talk about drool-inducing!
