968 forum on rennlist
#1

Seems to me that since this board has takin on new ownership, the quality of posters and information here that, the 968 board on RL has become a one man show.

Mods, keep up the good work! And Thanks for making it all possible.

without getting into any bashing or anything like that, yes, it seems clear that the world has figured out that this is the premier website for the 968

thanks to eric for getting this started and having the foresight to predict the future, and most of all, thanks to the members

we hope to continue to provide the best place for those of us with the 968 affliction to come together and enjoy our cars

I have also felt more at home here than there.

Speaking of other forums.... Did anyone ever archive 968.net? I like the future, but I'd hate to see the past forgotten.

I think most of the information migrated over here...lost to the entire world are Anchorman's search (though I know he has a hard copy) and Pie in the Sky from Gilder....

Gilder, if you lurk here, I hope your family is safe and well...

Regards,

Jay

Speaking of Gilder, where has he gone?

Last post from Gilder (on the Dark Site) mentioned a member of his family being lost on Mt. Baker...I did a bit of searching.

Doesn't look like any news since May 1

Gilder has never posted here,

However did you find that? Is LaFleur his real name?

Ahh, Gilder... the man behind some of the most cryptic posts we have ever seen.. yet, many others were perfectly clear. He is truly a puzzle wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma but I also wish him all the best and miss his presence as a forum member nonetheless..

Well said, DS. I often wondered if his posts came from an executive office or a sanitarium.

I sent Gilder a couple spare parts from my car he was looking for since they were just taking up space. Months later out of the blue I received a package with no note and a bunch of little parts for my 968 (various interior plugs, switches, plastic bits and pieces). Nothing I needed or wanted. I tried contacting him but was never able to confirm but the return address was his.

Some of those rambling posts were really wild.

LaFleur was his family name.

"This video is dedicated to my brother who past away this spring up on Mount Baker. As you will see from the video he lived life to the fullest. I love him and miss him and may his memory live forever. "

I guess it didn't work out well for Gilder's family...condolences

Great find, Jay. Sobering and inspiring. Without knowing anywhere's near the complete stories, I have the feeling that his passing was similar to that of Iceshark (Dan Wray) - both doing what they loved, and both too young.
