Hi from sunny Toulouse (South of France),
So the story of why a 968, very simple,
Always been interested in cars and thought that building a car would be a great way to include my sons and get them use to mechanicals (getting their hands dirty). So built a Caterham R500 from scratch and once it was finished I then get the sons asking if they can borrow it. Got bitten by the bug to continue and build renovate something else. Being British and have owned some Lotus cars in the past I thought that this would be a good idea. Wrong, I went to UK to view what sounded like good project cars to find out they were rubbish. Talking to a friend who is a avid Porsche owner suggested a Porsche 944 turbo (I dont have the money for a 911). Saw one on our local internet site but I could not see the car until the weekend
, I had another chat with my friend to say that I will go and see the car at the weekend and he said if I could find a 968 then this would be even better. Good news is that that evening one was posted, bad news it was 750Mile north of where I live. Contacted the seller and we got on famously and he was willing to hold the car until I could get to see it.
Result is that 1month later the 968 was in my garage. Started stripping it to do a complete respray and ALL fluid, belt and brake change. Even took all the glass out, doors off etc to complete the car.
I have lots of experience now on the maintenance of a 968 but just small niggles left to iron out.
