968 Cabrio Boot Cover
#1

I have been looking for a cabrio boot cover for quite some time. I finally found one at www.cabrioworld.com in NJ, and ordered it today. $400 for the US Sonnedeck version, $500 for the German canvas version. I ordered the US Sonnedeck. I'll let you all know what I think when I get it. Has anyone else used these guys?

Well if you don't like it, I got mine from a company in CA, $350 for the German, and $400 for the whole german top and window.. I can dig up the company if you need it.

Thanks, never even thought about doing a search. This is what CabrioWorld said about the tops when I asked what the differences were.

"The stayfast canvas is an American made canvas. It is just as good in quality and durability as the German canvas. In works better as a boot cover material as well because it is not as stiff as the German material."

I used CabioWorld a few years back. The boot cover was fine. You will have to attach the snaps yourself, or have a shop do it for you.

Same here, I ended up paying an upholstery shop 100 bucks for attaching the snaps after paying 400 for the boot

Smshirk, I'm guessing you used Dan at A & D for the boot cover. Do you have any idea how to get in touch with them? They moved from their old location in Lawrenceville. Please let me know if you do. Thanks.

I had the guy that did my top attach the snaps to the boot cover. It took him all of five miuntes to do. I wouldn't think it should cost that much.

I've seen one posted for sale on-and-off for the last month on SF Bay Area craigslist -- can't find the for sale post now though. I think I also have a spare blue one somewhere in my spare parts bin, but it's been awhile since I've sorted through storage....

If the blue one is in good shape and the price is right I would be interested. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

You beat me to it. But I would say the same. I have a good (newer after market not OEM) Black one but I think the Cobalt Blue would look much better with a Blue Boot.

Jon,

I tried to send you a PM but there is no record even though it said it was sent.

I'm interested if you still have the black boot.

Well... I went through two out of my three storage spaces -- but I couldn't locate the spare blue boot. I found a bunch of other cool goodies (ski rack for the rear hatch, silver 993 brakes, front spoiler, gutted cat test pipe, cab wind deflector, etc, etc), but no go on a blue boot. It may be in my other storage space.. Sorry guys....

Anyone with a simple DIY on attaching the snaps? Just got my cab... ("The boot's in the trunk") and the damned thing has no holes and no instructions. I figured out the back flap must go under the trunk lid, and there's some velcro in the front (but haven't located it yet)... but I had a bag full of snaps and no holes.

And it looks like it is gonna be REEEAL snug. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Any help is appreciated!

You need to go to a upholstery shop, unless you have the spell tools for installing all the snaps.. Also make sure you have the tenax snaps in there, which are the one that attach to the posts on the side of your car.
