'94 968 Cab 6 Speed - Black/tan
#1

Is this the place for these rare cars? Sure looks like it!

Mine is a 1994 cabriolet. 6 speed. Black with tan interior. Located in Houston, Texas.

108K miles, runs like a top and fun to drive. I had a silver 924 back in the 80's and 90's (12 years), and with the 968 I am home again. The 924 was a great car, and the 968 is obviously a huge improvement all around. Also in the garage is an '87 Carrera cab and a '65 912.

Here is a list of what I have done so far since acquiring the car earlier this year:

Air filter

Fuel filter
Spark plugs - Bosch Super Plus
Oil & filter
Steam undercarriage and wheel wells
Steam interior and top
Full paint correction (buffing)
Engine detail
Powder coat wheels
Change transaxle fluid: Mobile 1 75w90
Bleed brakes. ATE blue
New tires - Bridgestone RE-71R
Swap seats for new ones from a 993.

Things still on the to do list:

Shocks

<div>Change engine coolant
</div>
Bleed clutch cylinder
Power steering fluid change
Replace electric connector to cam hall sensor
ABS

Belts were changed 7K miles and 4 years ago. Hmm... That is something I need to learn about and I hope to find some good discussions and procedures on the forum.

Belts are always at the top of the list. You should consider changing yours soon as this is  a maintenance item based as much on time as mileage.

Enjoy the site,

Sounds like you have been busy since you got your car, nice list of clean-up work. Ditto on the internal engine belts (timing and balance shaft) - major $$ if they fail. 4-5 years max.

Lots of previous discussion on shocks and suspension mods.  Look into the air box mod as well.

Welcome. Be sure to take a few days off to bleed the clutch, lol.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

I'm in the process of collecting manuals and documentation. Is there a definitive guide for belt replacement procedure?

Bulti is the clutch that bad? Worse than bleeding a G50 911? I guess I'll find out!

I'll participate in the rest of the site once my permissions open up.

Thanks again for the welcome. I just put Bridgestone RE-71R tires on, can't wait to have a chance to try them out.

Re belts - enough info can be found here, but I don't think there is a step-by-step procedure. If you got any questions, ask away. The consensus here is to buy the Gates belts, altough my ContiTech are just fine, there are people here who had bad experiences with them.

Re clutch - a Motive Power bleeder or the likes should give you the best results

Thanks Bulti. I'll poke around the site for info on the belts. I'm starting to get paranoid about belt failure...

Yep Motive all the way. I use mine empty, just air pressure. Thanks for the tip.
