Neuspeed has Fuba Betaflex-D roof-mount coupe antennas
#1

Cheers all -

The supply of these little roof mount antennas is dwindling, and production might be discontinued at some point. I just got one from Neuspeed, who has 9 left apparently. $60, get 'em while you can.

I will be installing mine to see if it clears up my reception issue, and that will be this Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll report back to this thread.

Cheers,

Thanks for tip! Mine is looking weathered.

If you have poor reception, it could be that the antenna amplifier is on it's way out.

I installed one a few months back and it was just as good looking. Slightly different mount bolt. Non amplified and works great. but for purists.....

Indeed. The amplifier on the coupe roof-mount antennas is actually in the base of the antenna itself.

i never liked the look of antenna on a car - breaks up the lines - i have a few on the denali now, and it is starting to look like air force one

i still can't figure out whey they didn't do a retractable antenna on the 968 - if i had a hatchback car, i would definitely fill that hole, and install one - that or install a windshield with one already in it - they did that on the cab - very clean - why 2 different designs?

Don't forget, the "beestinger" antenna was actually somewhat of a styling Vogue in the late 80's and early 90's, so that may explain part of it. Past that, it was probably down to pure production cost; an amplified roof antenna that likely cost Porsche @ $15 was a good deal less than the windshield-separate booster combo.

I could see a retractable antenna, but not if it would have been one of those big, huge yard-long types.....which was the dominating technology back in the early 90's. It would have to be much shorter than that, not sure if that kind of thing exists in an amplified form.

Best,

agreed - they did a lot of things for reasons of cost - makes me crazy, considering what they wanted for the car

they used a separate antenna amp in the cab (not attached to the antenna), so they could have used that

lol - if they used a good antenna and tuner to begin with, they wouldn't have needed anything - the rest of the world seems to have no problem

over engineered again - imagine that

I like the look...maybe it looks better on a white body because of the other black accents...
