92 968 Cab Wyckoff, NJ Original owner nyanks1
#1

I rarely drive the car maybe 10 miles a yr, approx 42,000 miles. Garge kept, it's 25th anniversary was May 17, thereby qualifying for "Historic" plates.

I purchased it new in 1992, have all the service docs, and original purchase docs,

I would happily sell it, yet I'm frustrated by the sales value, considerring how rare it is.

Welcome,

The first question that comes to mind is Manual or Tiptronic?

List of option codes?

Colors (Exterior/interior)?

I assume that it is 100% bone stock.

Fully serviced, especially Timing/Balance Shaft Belts (regardless of mileage, need to up to date).

If you hold onto it for a couple of more years you may be handsomely rewarded for keeping it for so long.

JMHO,

Jay

You need to make more posts so you can post some pictures. I would love to see another early 92, especially in that condition!

Welcome! I too have an early ‘92 with just under 74k miles. Celebrated 26yrs as it was built October of ‘91, 61st off the line by Vin#. I bought it certified from dealer as a returned leased car so I kind of consider myself the first “owner”! After waiting for prices to bottom out then rebound, I figure I have another 10-25 years to bring it back up to my 1996 purchase price of around $28k(can’t even think about adjusting for inflation).

As a fellow long term owner I can agree that it can be frustrating to see the values so low and tempted to sell every no and then, but every time I look around for something else comparable, I find nothing else out there can do the same thing, on a reasonable budget. With regular maintenance, you get a lot of bang for your buck, vintage but not dated styling, unique car, and decent handling/performance. Watching recent 968”s auctions on BaT gives me hope that 968 values are climbing, the right buyer can bid decent money for a well represented car....

For now, I would suggest;to just get out there and drive it, I know that every time I go for ride, it reminds me why i just have to hang onto it! Hope that works for you too!

Kaneway it's been a while. Nice to see you're still around. There are so few of us here in NEPA. Course that might be a good thing too!

Sounds like a nice car.

Option Codes will be in the trunk under the carpet.

Belts should be changed after no more than 5 years, regardless of mileage. The rubber becomes stiff, and a belt break is disastrous on an interference engine.

Regards,

Jay

Welcome! Have you "registered " your car with Jeff Coe of the PCA 968 Registry.? He'd certainly want to hear from an original owner, esp with such an early car.
